Ten Years!

Today Christian and I celebrate our ten year anniversary. We were married September 16, 1997 in the Hawaii LDS Temple. For the last two days we have been walking around, seemingly in a bit of a daze, saying, "Ten years. Wow." It has flown by so fast. We have also been reminiscing this last week about the major events in our lives over the last ten years, and also the small things we remember about the early years (snakes in our apartment, 3 feet of snow in one night, our car that made horrible grinding sounds every time you started it, Christian's paycheck with a typo that made it $49,000 AFTER taxes for 2 weeks worth of work, etc...). We have a lot of happy memories, and a few sad ones too. Anyway, to celebrate our anniversary my friend Staci took the boys for the evening (we celebrated on Saturday since today is a Sunday) and we went out to eat. We went to the nicest restaurant in Ames, which is called Aunt Maude's (http://www.maudesames.com/). One of the professionals Christian works with told him to take out a loan before we went, but it wasn't quite as expensive as the Grapevine in Logan was. It was yummy too. Then we drove around a little, just enjoying the peace and quiet, and we pulled over so Christian could take a picture of the sunset. Then after we put the boys to bed, we watched the same movie we watched on our first date, The Bridges of Madison County...I know, it's a movie about adultery, but we didn't know that when we went to see it 12 years ago! And, it takes place in Iowa, about 1 hour from our apartment. One day we'll have to drive down and see the bridges in Winterset. We feel very blessed to have each other and look forward to many more years together!
