Today is Opposite Day

(I'm linking up to Sue's Very Funny Friday because a couple of these things are pretty funny!)

I didn't drive 45 minutes to Costco three times this week trying to decide how to save spend save spend our tax return.

I didn't purchase the 12 pack of Costco's double chocolate "muffins" (all 12 chocolate, none the healthy kind like blueberry or poppyseed) and then hide half of them behind the ground beef in the freezer.

I didn't gag when my three year old said he wanted a mayonnaise and ketchup sandwich, and then proceeded to lick the mayo and ketchup off of the bread.

I did not smile when that same three year old asked while pointing at me: "Mama, what are those bweastes (said with two syllables) for?"

I did not say out loud "I hate this show" at least three times per episode of LOST. It did not get to the point where my husband said, "Should we just stop watching it?" And I did not look at him like he was crazy. Episode after episode after episode. (We will finish season two tonight.)

I did not squeal with joy as I sat down to eat a Costa Vida burrito. At 9:00 PM.

Brooke and Christa, here is how you do the strikethrough:

Type the words you want to strike through. Then in the top right corner of the box where you type your post, you see two tabs: "Edit Html" and "Compose." Click on the "Edit Html" box, and you will see your same words in funky looking font. Then you will follow the directions on this page. I have been trying to write/explain it here on my blog for 15 minutes now, but it keeps actually doing the strikethrough, instead of leaving the letters how I type them. So hopefully the link helps it make sense! Good luck!

I don't ever buy the double chocolate muffins. Especially not every time I go to Sam's. Thanks for the explanation.

Love this post. You're too funny. I do the SAME thing during LOST. It makes me so crazy but I just CAN'T stop, I NEED to know what happens. That show is like crack. Or what I assume crack would do to a person. I've never tried crack. Promise :)

P.S. I don't have to go to the edit html page to do strike-through. I don't know if that's normal. But I just surround the word or phrase with the S stuff (I'd show it here but blogger won't let me comment with the actual way of doing it, I don't know why) and it works even in the compose section. Unless I'm remembering wrong? You never do know. could be my memory.

I've never hidden treats from the family. Never ever ever. Of course not.

I can't believe you drove down to Costco 3 times! Where did you find the time? :)

Kaylynn said...

Costco, mmmm, I would think France a much better place to spend your tax return.!

Kaylynn said...

By the way, poppy seed muffins aren't healthy. They probably have more calories than double chocolate!

I swear everytime I watch Lost that I'm not going to watch it again. Then I keep coming back.

My oldest used to eat ketchup mayo sandwiches all the time when he was little. I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.

I don't heart Costco..

Kate said...

I love Costco. I wish I could go. Those muffins, yummy but evil.

The hard thing about writing in a post and trying to quote the hidden characters (or tags) is that it winds up not doing what you want. This is where you need to use the HTML equivalent of the greater than and less than signs. For example— if I want to show the bold tag (<b>), I use the following: &lt;b&gt;

I hope this is helpful,

I love that you spent your tax return on chocolate muffins!! So what did you not answer when your son didn't ask you about your "bweastes"? :)

Heidi said...

Those chocolate only Costco muffins gives a girl good bweasties.

Heidi said...

Not to mention, good bweaste milk.

I did not thoroughly enjoy this post. Nor did it make me desperately want my own Costa Vida meal.

Christa said...

Thank you so much for. I've been wanting to know how to do that for the longest time.

I do the SAME thing with Lost!! I almost stopped watching it after the first episode of the season, but I really enjoyed the last episode.

But, I am getting sick of the time traveling island very quickly.

Adrienne said...

I'm raiding your freezer as I know now where the goodies are...I would kill for one of those muffins right now!

Britt said...

Double Chocolate--mmmmm. That's a luxury I don't get often enough!

Desta said...

I am not reading your blog when I could be eating breakfast.

With Lost I'm usually shouting "I love this show" because this season is totally rocking my world.

Good luck with your "financial problems" Seems like muffins is a safe place to start. Would putting them in your freezer be considered frozen assets?

Desta said...

PS - I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Wallflowers and KT Tunstall. I guess we have something in common musically after all. And I think Jacob Dylan is absolutely yummy.

Goob said...

"i hate this show" followed by "why do we even watch it" was our mantra the second season of 24...we didn't even watch the 3rd season...heretical, I know.

I didn't send my son to school after he puked all over the sidewalk.

Funny! I love the bweastes comment:). I also love what your kids say along the side. So cute!

LOVE it!!!
I may just have to do this today =)

As for LOST??? My daughter and I are so freaking addicted, it's ridiculous. We're already on disc 5 of Season 3...

She wants to watch it all the time, but refuses to watch it alone because it's too tense for her...so I do what ANY good mother would do and watch it with her.
(it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm secretly in love with Jack)

I wonder how many of us are guilty of hiding food from the rest of the family. LOL

I don't go and say I am getting milk at the store and go shopping for a couple of hours instead.

Lost is absolutely the best show on television! I SWEAR! We are caught up and LOVING it!

There's no better way to spend a tax return than to buy giant chocolate muffins! Hooray for you!

Thanks for the html tip! I've been trying to figure that out for weeks!!!

Have a wonderful weekend filled with chocolatey muffin goodness!

I'm glad you did the very funny friday! Wow you are in for quite a ride with Lost...I feel the same way you do sometimes. I'm not sure I'm enjoying the new season, but I just can't look away :)

Diane said...

I didn't make chocolate chip cookies with beans in them for my family.

Christine said...

I can't believe you drove down there 3 times! Sounds fun.

So what's making you mad on lost?

Your blog header is hilarious!

A ketchup and mayonnaise sandwich. Classic. And gross.

Charmaine said...

Oh, and Madeline and her friend Mariah watched the kids. They did a great job and Israel keeps asking for "babysitters" to come over. It's pretty cute.

Anne-Marie said...

Isn't that such a rite of passage as a parent to hide treats?!

My Uncle & Aunt had a cabinet with a padlock on it. No joke!

Alicia @ Oh2122 said...

The post was a hoot, but THANK YOU for the strike through tutorial.

You have no idea how long I have wondered about that...

Helene said...

I almost spit out my water when I read about your son wanting a ketchup and mayo sandwich!! Two of my kids requested that for lunch yesterday. It seemed like such an odd thing. I asked if they wanted any ham or cheese on it and they said no, only wanted ketchup and mayo. And they thought it was the best thing on earth since pizza. So wierd!

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

In our house it's not me hiding the treats...it's the treats being hidden from me. Sigh. I know there's a jar of nutella in this house somewhere...

Season 2 is a little frustrating and slow. 3 is good but 4 is awesome! I also bought those muffins but i dont actually like them my kids do. Thats why i buy the 12 pack of chocolate ones. If I buy a mixed 12 pack then I will eat the other kinds

Lee said...

I HATE lost.
It's so boring now!

It's hilarious, though. That sandwich. I gagged just reading it.

Momo Fali said...

I love LOST. LOVE it. I'm dreading the day when it goes off the air. It makes you think. Also, hot shirtless men don't hurt.

Laura said...

Thank you SO much for the strikethrough tutorial! I've been DYING to know how to do this!! Have a great weekend.

MMM, Costco muffins! YUM!

How in the world have I missed your blog? I guess I have been under a rock.. sorry.

Great blog I will be back fo sho!!!

If it weren't for ketchup, the only thing my son would eat is ice cream.

And people need to stop saying Costco muffins. I'm very susceptible to the power of suggestion.

And why is your profile photo identical to LisAway's?

Melissa said...

Keep watching Lost! It gets better, I promise. I am on the current season, and can't wait for the next week's episode!

We had Peter's cousin from Switzerland come live with us for a summer and the term they use is "boobies". Yes, my then 3 year old Susie would ask me all the time "do you like having booooo-bies mama?" Not such a problem unless said loudly during thee Sacrament service.

For the strikeout...I have that on my options on my google page editor. I think I am signed up to try Blogger Beta Publisher. It is already in the bottom of my "options" tool. However, I don't have spell check. Not a big one for me, but in a hurry...I need it and miss it when not there.

Does anyone else out there have this tool on their blogger publisher page?

We jumped on the Lost train last spring--and are now thoroughly, unabashedly hooked. We feel like such big kids...we're all caught up now (as if this was some kind of achievement) and we are watching the current season...it just keeps getting better and better and more and more confusing....

Blessings!
