The Fox and the Hound

Have any of you ever seen The Fox and the Hound? It was on the Disney channel a few days ago, so we recorded it and we watched it this morning. The young fox and hound are friends, but the hound's owner sees the fox and tries to shoot it. The fox's owner finally fears for Tod's (the fox) life, so she drives him out to the wilderness to drop him off because he will be safer out there than at his home. When she dropped Tod off, and started driving away, Ethan turned to me with his eyebrows raised and big eyes and said, "She isn't going to take care of him anymore!" And he started crying. Awwww! I gave him a great big hug and explained to him why she had to drive him out there, to save him. What a tenderheart! Then, at then end of the movie, I saw him wiping away tears. I asked him why he was crying, and he said, "Because they are walking away from each other." The fox and the hound were with each other for just a minute in the water at the end of the show. Then the hound walked one direction, toward his home, and the fox walked the other direction, toward his home. Ethan was sad that they were leaving each other. I'm wondering if he will have a hard time moving this summer, because we will be leaving friends. He's growing up!

I remember watching that movie when I was little and it made me very sad for some reason. I don't really remember the story now, but I remember that they were friends when they were little and then they grew up and became enemies. I didn't understand how that could happen. I guess I still don't understand how things like that happen.

That's so sweet. Ethan sounds like my little brother, Sam. He's almost 12 and he cried at Charlotte's Web. He said "If she is going to die, then I don't want to finish this movie!" He also cried during "Simon Birch." (If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It's a sweet one.)

Jarrett loves that movie! He's always saying he wants to watch "Tod" and I've never seen it. But after reading what it was about, maybe I don't want to. How sad :(

Ethan has such a big heart. What a sweet, kind boy.

What I need to see is "Milo and Otis". You'd think, with a Milo, I would have checked into that already.

What sweet boys you have. Isn't it nice raising gentlemen? I think so.
