I was born in 1976, and I LOVE 80's music. I have tons on my iTunes (anyone need to hear some Devo? Or how about Flock of Seagulls? I've got what you want on my iPod). So I started thinking about what I could blog about, and I started getting nostalgic with my love for music, so I decided to indulge you all in my dorkiness by admitting what the first cassette tape I ever purchased is. Keep in mind, I was around 13 years old. I remember standing there in Fred Meyer, in the music section, trying to decide between two tapes, because I could only afford one. I was wavering back and forth, because I loved both of these girls equally, and I really couldn't decide. I finally made the choice, purchased it, went home and listened to it a few times, and then realized that I had made the wrong choice (the reason being, of course, because Debbie Gibson had a speck of talent, and this one doesn't.) Here's what I purchased:

Tiffany. Pretty pathetic. But, since it was my first music purchase, I practically wore it out on my tape player.
Here is the first cd I ever purchased. I was behind the times on purchasing a cd player...most of my friends had cd's, but I didn't get a player until I was a freshman in college. This one is not so embarrassing, but keep in mind I purchased it because some of the songs reminded me of a certain boy (no, not Christian).

Bon Jovi Crossroads. There's nothing like long, scraggly 80's hair to make your heart skip a beat.
What were your first tape/cd purchases?

Gotta admit, I enjoyed it when the music came on. It made me want music on my blog!
Hate to admit this: I bought a spice girls cassette when I was thirteen. I was probably too broke to purchase the CD. Fun blog!
Hooray for 1976!
I have to admit that in 5th grade I had a crush on Tiffany.
A few years ago Tiffany played a show at UVSC (no, not in the Events Center but in the quad during lunch...pretty sad). I was in the audience and actually got to touch her hand. All of my 5th grade dreams were coming true. If only it had still been 1987.
Erin, I too remember all of those singers and I too have to admit that I have that same Bon Jovi cd and I still listen to it. I love it!!
This has nothing to do with your post, but the braids picture was taken at the first Inman Reunion when we all stayed at that lodge. Hope that jogs your memory!
I think my first tape purchase was the Beach Boys (I still have them). My first CD was Vanilla Ice. I still have that also. The same day, I bought The Simpson's Sing the Blues with "The Bart Man". I got rid of that one a long time ago.
Oh my word, I loved Tiffany. In fact, when I was at BYU, she came and performed outside one day. My roommates and I were stoked to go see her. She did sing this song you have on your blog--we were excited. Pathetic, but it was fun:). Many a dances were made up to this song between my sister and I!
I wasn't your run-of-the-mill kid. I don't enjoy 80s music much (I do love the Police and a few others). Anyway, I believe my first cassette purchase was, ahem, Linda Ronstadt. I know, how lame was I? There's also a chance it was a Doris Day tape. Sigh. I think my first CD must have been James Taylor, because he's always been my BFF of musicians.
Do you still respect me at all?
I will say that one of my first piano solos was Debbie Gibson's "I Get Lost In Your Eyes". There: proof that I WAS alive in the 80s.
You are hillarious! as soon as I came on to your blog and the "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART" came on blaring really loud, milo came running over and said "Oh mom I love this song!" dont ask me where he has ever heard it? he must be 80's child in heart? I can still remember my first RECORD, yes I said record...Boy George! I had the biggest crush on him..or her..is that even possible?
That is so funny. My first tape was tiffany as well, and I got it for my birthday, and even worse, I listened to it so much, that I had to get anohter one.. I still ahve that one!
