How Do You Put the Toilet Paper on the Roll?
I was blog gazing for the first time in two weeks, and I came across the funniest thing I have seen in a while. Loralee's Looneytunes posted here about which way people attach the toilet paper roll to the wall, and she got 60 responses! I had no idea people felt so strongly about which way the toilet paper is supposed to hang, over the top or next to the wall. I have always liked it next to the wall, but I'm slightly OCD. I like it that way so Aidan won't unroll the entire roll, and it's easier to rip off the "correct" amount of squares. I have a friend who worked in hotels, and she had to put the roll over the top, so she insisted that it was the "right" way. We had many arguments/discussions about it. But besides us, I figured no one else really cared. So, do you care? What direction do you put your toilet paper on the wall?

over the top!! the other way is very wrong.
Oh wow I'm not a confrontational person but I'm afraid I'm going to have to correct Kent and Leisy.. It goes against the wall.. Same reason as Erins. Correct amount dispensed ect.. hehe
Oh my goodness, over the top!!! How else are you supposed to find the end in the dark? And if you have a problem getting the "correct" amount of squares, just use two hands. Simple!
P.S. The ONLY reason I think it's okay to do it against the wall is if you have a pet (such as a cat) that would unroll the entire thing by batting at it. Then again, I'm really not a pet person--especially a pet-in-the-house person, so I still think it's wrong. :)
DEFINITELY, over the top!
I really could care less although I find that I tend to put it next to the wall. But if Rick puts it over the top I am usually just happy that he changed the toilet paper instead of getting out a new roll and leaving it on the counter (which happens more often than not).
I've heard that over the top is the proper, or formal way to do it (it's one of those etiquette things like how to fold napkins and whether you put the knife on the right or left side of the plate - there's another topic for you...). I like going under just because I like it that way. Then when Zoe rolls it towards herself it just goes around and around.
Over the top for me too! The other way is just weird to me.
It's making me giggle that my frustration with toilet paper inspired a post. People feel very strongly about it, that is certain.
I have decided that I am an over the top girl, but if I have any more little ones, that equation may change.
I have a cat, but she is so freaking lazy I don't think that it would ever occur to her to play with the toilet paper, so we are safe for the time being.
Over the top! But I love you so against the wall.

Over the top all the way. i can't handle having to search for the toilet paper underneath where so many germs could have gathered from dirty hands on the wall. But to each their own. We all have our things
I love tissue over the top, but never thought about it. I guess I should have it against the wall so kids cannot unroll it!

Totally over the top! Actually, my husband and I had this discussion before we got married because we are both so OCD about it! Thankfully we are both over the top people and we both feel very strongly about it! I don't know if we would have gotten married if we didn't agree on this little thing! J/K!!!
I'm pretty sure that you go straight to hell if you put the TP against the wall.
I have to speak up for the "I don't care" crowd. I realize that it is proper etiquette for the roll to go over, and usually try to stick to that, but honestly our rolls switch back and forth a couple times during their short life span. And no one in this house ever bats an eye.
OK, so I like mine against the wall, but I have a very interesting reason for that. I like to read (and I mean everywhere I go), and you can tear the toilet paper off the wall with only one hand (while the other hand is holding a book). It DOES NOT work if it is over the top.
Oh Girls! I thought I raised you both better than that! You both know that the paper should roll from the top. That way the design is always showing.

I posted about this last year...my family seems to enjoy the togetherness of having no toilet paper at all and having to yell for help. I'm just saying...
Yes, I care. I definitely prefer it roll over the top. However, when I have a toddler in the home, I find it wise to let it lay against the wall so it doesn't get unrolled by the toddler in 3.2 seconds. And you're right, there is a correct number of squares to rip off. Aaron laughs at me because I have a specific number of squares, and I fold, not wad it. :)
Just found you via Jillene's blog and clicked on this post...Oh my goodness! Who knew????
I am just happy if the toilet paper is on the roll...period..I live with men....
Cute blog! Will be back again!
Smiles!
