A Welcome and a How-To

Last night was a girls' night out with some women from my ward. We went to Fuji, a japanese steakhouse, and we had so much fun talking, laughing and eating. I found out during dinner that two of them check my blog, and I had absolutely no idea. So, welcome Stephanie and Rachel! And I assume that there may be one or two other people who also check my blog, and I have no idea who they are, whether I know them or not...for example, according to my map on the bottom of the page, someone from Des Moines checks it pretty regularly, and I don't know anyone in Des Moines. So -- Welcome to Mr. or Ms. Anon E. Muss too! I certainly have nothing to hide, and my blog isn't cutesy, but if you like what you read, you are welcome to mosey on over anytime.

I also found out that one girl was interested in leaving comments, but didn't know how. So, here's a quick how-to if you want to leave a comment (and come on - you know you want to. No one but me reads your comment, I'm sure. Coochie coochie coo!). And, by the way, there are other ways to comment too, but this is the easiest (and, to tell you the truth, the only way) I know of. First, you go to http://www.gmail.com/. On the right, toward the bottom, you click on "Sign up for Gmail." Follow the instructions, choose a username and password, and voilà, you have a new e-mail account. You never actually have to use it if you don't want to; it's just for leaving comments. See how easy that was? Now, when you see a post that you particularly liked, or have a thought about something you read, or just want to tell the writer (AKA me) how cute they are, you see a little line after the post that reads, "Posted by Erin at 7:00 AM 0 comments". You click on the 0 comments part and another window pops up. You type your comment in the box...doesn't have to be witty or funny, I'm not partial. Then it asks for your Google/Blogger username and password. This is where the new gmail account comes in. You type in that username and password, and click "publish your comment". And voilà again, your comment is saved for the author of that blog to read and know she is special.

Now, the next thing to do is create your own blog (http://www.blogger.com/, follow the instructions, and use your gmail username and password to set it up). It's really easy too, almost as easy as creating a gmail account. See, you can do it! Baby steps. Call me if you want help creating a blog. Pretty soon you'll be addicted (blogdicted?) too.

Ha! My mom still doesn't know how to leave comments on my blog, no matter how many times I walk her through it. She ends up clicking on the envelope and putting in my address, which sends a copy of the post (you know, the one I just wrote) to me and then she puts her comment in the e-mail.
