Last night was a sort of final hurrah for Christian's internship. Everyone in the counseling center got together for dinner and a presentation. What a great night! Not the least of which was because we got a sitter and had a real date! But the entire night was special for Christian. First, his supervisors stood up and talked about what they enjoyed about being his supervisor (they did that for the other two interns too). One of his supervisors said in his 20 years of supervising interns, Christian was his favorite one ever. That really says something! And they all said SUU will be very happy and lucky to have him.
The two of us (oh yeah, I got a haircut today. It's cute!)

Next, the interns sang a song they made up while I played the piano. Do you remember the song "
Everything Reminds Me of My Therapist?" that I put on the blog? They changed the words to "everything reminds me of my internship" and talked about things applicable to this internship (like being poor, cornfields, and flooding), and also applicable to each person who they work with. They got tons of laughs, and even a request to do it again next week so it can be recorded.
The interns: Jeff Ellens, Christian, Frances Shen

Then, the training director played a DVD he made of each intern. I don't know quite how to explain it......Jon had asked me two months ago to give him pictures of Christian from his growing up years and recent years. Then he created three mini-shows, one for each intern. Frances' was a mini-Dateline, Jeff's was a mini-E! True Hollywood Story, and Christian's was a mini-Behind the Music, completely making up a B.S. story about how he had a happy childhood and Donny Osmond befriended him, and even mentored him into being the next Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Christian really did play that role in high school), and then Christian got into a band and went a little crazy and even got lei'd (I had given Jon a picture of Christian right before his mission wearing a ton of leis in Hawaii). It was hysterical! Reading it might not be quite so funny; you had to be there. But he did give us a copy of the DVD, so if you want to watch it one day...well, you may have to bribe Christian.
Then, Christian got his internship certificate

and they gave him a gift, a nice clock with his name engraved on the base. And for dinner I got a filet mignon and Christian got a ribeye. All paid for! Talk about a wonderful night! It was also an emotional night because it signifies the very end of everything we (well, Christian, but I have worked awfully hard too) have worked for over the last 10 years. Oh, and in the mail today Christian got his hard-bound copy of his
dissertation. Click on it to see that he is famous on the internet! There's some very interesting reading in there. At the very least, scroll to page 7 and read the acknowledgements. Awwww!

I LOVE your haircut, very cute!
cute hair!
What a cool night, I'm jealous. I don't know whether to keep nagging Louie or just let him take 5 years to finish one paper for his M.S. degree - but maybe someday he'll be truly done. It feels weird saying that when he's already in a job and all, but it will be such a relief to get the degree totally done.
Anyway, yet another congrats to Christian. SUU really is lucky.
Also, I'm joining the "cute hair" bandwagon, because it IS super cute.
What a very fun night. It is so nice that they acknowledged all of their hard work. Congrats again Christian The thing I first noticed is how hot you look Erin. I bet Christian was really proud having you on his arm. You look fantastic. love your hair
