My cousin
Jessi tagged me eons ago. I have been meaning to do it, and I suppose I got lazy? But when I started seeing the tag going around in other circles, it reminded me to get in gear.
The tag: take pictures around your house. NO cleaning beforehand.
Picture #1 - The fridge

Yes, it's usually this empty. I spend a lot of the grocery budget on food storage type stuff, then come home and realize there is nothing in the fridge. One day I'll get it right.

Why Erin, is that a remote control spider and a Pez dispenser next to your fridge? Why, yes it is. A very common occurrence at our house.
Picture #2 - The laundry room

I love my laundry room. In the past, my washer and dryer have been in my kitchen, so to have a completely separate room where I can close the door is fantastic! Plus, there is tons of room behind the door to store Christian's crap - I mean, really important stuff like camping and fishing equipment. (My crap is in the office closet: scrapbook stuff, non-important items from high school.)
Picture #3 - What the kids are doing now

It's 10:21 at night as I type this, and thankfully they are sound asleep. When I took this picture, however, the flash woke Ethan up. Oops.
Picture #4 - My favorite shoes

My Haflinger slippers. I would wear them everywhere if I could. But they aren't fashionable. Sigh.
Picture #5 - A closet

I love love love this pantry (it's a type of closet, right?) When we moved here three months ago, I opened my moving box filled with food storage stuff, put it all in the pantry, and took note: everything we had in Iowa took up the space from the kidney beans to the tuna. About 2 feet worth of space on one shelf. So I have been desperately purchasing stuff to put in food storage so that I didn't have to view an empty pantry (oh yeah, and because the prophet asked us to).
Picture #6 - My favorite room

My favorite room isn't actually a favorite room. It's a favorite
area. My little reading space, with my rocker/glider, my bookshelves, and my...clothing waiting to be ironed??? I need to figure out a new place for that stuff. Like the laundry basket.
Picture #7 - Self portrait

It's technically not a self-portrait, but a drawing done by my son. I am the second one from the left, in light green.
Picture #8 - Kitchen sink

Um, yeah. Please don't click on it to see all of the griminess in its glory.
Picture #9 - A bathroom

The boys' bathroom. Why in the world did I choose white as the theme?!? It didn't happen that way on purpose, I promise. And Christian just put in "sun" light bulbs, which burn white instead of yellow. I immediately saw just how dirty the bathroom really was, and had to get the cleaning stuff out right away. I'm warning you - do NOT purchase sun light bulbs! Unless you want to clean a LOT more often!
Picture #10 - Originally was supposed to be a picture of my dream vacation. But I don't want to be the person who flaunts the fact that she is going on her dream vacation in four months. So the next choice was heating vents. But mine are plain old boring white ones in the ceiling. So, I randomly found a picture from my archives to post as a "welcome fall" type picture:

Leaf Man. Made by Ethan, 2007.

Ok. This is so not fair. All of the picture tags I have seen like this have made me feel like the worst housekeeper. I am going to do this picture tag, so that people can see that a dirty kitchen, cluttered closets, and a ridiculously full (of nasty 2 week leftovers) refridgerator is normal! NOT FAIR THAT YOUR LAUNDRY ROOM IS CLEAN TOO! By the way, the spider freaked me out. I even knew it couldn't be real. Still.
Hahaha!! That was great!! I especially LOVE the self portrait!
I agree, your house looks nice and tidy, but I am afraid some people don't realize when you are a stay at home mom you are constantly picking up and wiping, or else your house would not be a livable place!
Your fridge surprises me the most because even the shelves looks so clean! And no laundry piled up....nicely done!
Very Nice!Love the self portrait. And love the spider.
What anice big fridge. Mines a little clunker. I love yours
Sigh. I really should clean out my fridge. We had an unfortunate spill in there and I could never do this tag now (unless I just show the outside). :)
I love the self portrait. And the ironing on the chair, that's great! I haven't ironed in years.
Great self portrait. I can see where your kids get their good looks.
Your house is clean! If anyone ever tags me to do this, I will not. My house is...well, it's not messy it's lived in!
I love the cabinets in your laundry room. We need some for ours. Your house looks so cute, can't wait to see it one day...by the way what are you guys doing for Thanksgiving? We are thinking of coming up
That is a great self portrait! Very 'Earthy' no wonder you're from the Northwest ;)
I can't believe how clean and tidy your house is! If I walked around and took photos of my house with no tidying beforehand you'd probably disown me as a friend! You're incredible.
:)
i noticed you have the square milk jugs from sam's club.
we just got one of those last night.
they seem so weird.
Cute photos!
How is everyone's house so clean during these photo tags!!
I blog all day and ignore my chores!!
Hey wow, your fridge is slightly emptier than mine! I usually feel guilty when I see my friends' or parent's fridges stuffed to the gills. I realize most of them have more people living in their homes than I do, but still. Mine is usually kind of empty looking too, and has very similar things in it. My pantry of food is also similar to yours, minus the tuna. Rosarita beans, other beans, kid snacks, both creamy and crunchy peanut butters (despite Milo's allergy to peanuts - nice), etc.
That was a fun walk through your house and life!
You're so tiny.
We buy those welch's fruit snacks too. They allow me to blog, just throw a pack to the kids and they're content for a while.
Um. Yeah. I'm going to go clean my house now...
this was a fun tag to read. Thanks for entertaining me today.
That is the cleanest laundry room i have ever seen!
This is a great tag... the funny thing is that I was tagged for this on another blog just today. I am totally impressed how nice your house is.

Oh my gosh.. Justin wants one of those remote controlled spiders so bad! ha ha.. yuck. And my fav--- your self portrait :) Congrats on FINALLY doing it. ha ha ha!
Your house is so clean! Man, I have to scroll down forever to get to this part to type because you get so many comments now!!!
How much does Ethan charge for the Leaf Man or something like it?
It's awesome.
I would be terrified to take this challenge, particularly after being on 'survival' mode while fighting this cold. You are inspiring! Your house is so tidy!!! Even with the little remote control spider (which I would argue is the best kind of spider, my apologies to Charlotte). I think we may have the same Bosch blender!
Blessings!
All I have to say is that you are super organized and so neat.
Love it. Most of all.... the spider is pretty cool.
I couldn't do this tag right now. Honest. Nobody would ever read my blog again if they knew how dirty I am.
You are brave. I couldn't take pictures of my house right now...a bomb looks like it landed here this week. I like the fridge the best...that is how ours looks like...empty, but we do eat.
Erin I disagree- the Haflingers are fashionable! Mine are so beloved and worn that they are truly unfashionable, but yours are nice and clean. If I can wear mine to your house, you can wear yours to my house. Deal?
I may have to "borrow" this meme--I love it! And your dream vacation?? I WANT.
