I'm Being Honest

I wanted to start today's post by telling you a little about the trillion ring from yesterday's post. When the opportunity arose for me to go to France in March, my husband asked me if I would rather have a trillion diamond ring, a Canon Rebel, or a trip to France. I chose the trip to France. I knew the ring or the camera could happen eventually, but a trip like this would not likely happen again (I have a friend who lives in Paris so it won't cost more than the plane ticket, and I don't have a baby and I'm not pregnant so the timing is right.) I will get a trillion eventually. Now, enjoy this final tag/meme...

I got this award from in time out. Thank you! (Plus, the name of her blog is by the hair of my chinny chin chin. Awesome.)Now I have to divulge 10 honest things about myself. Yikes. Here goes...

1. I am too nice. I want to please people. If you really want to know whether your haircut is ugly or your butt looks big in those pants, don't ask me, because I probably won't tell you the truth.

2. When I am hungry, I get really cranky. It took my husband a few years to figure this out, but now, when I snap at him or the kids, he just says, "Let's get you something to eat, okay?"

3. I pop my neck. Yes, I used to work for a chiropractor (for 6 years), and I know I'm not supposed to do it. I do it anyway.

4. I've been through therapy twice. I think everyone should go to therapy. It really helps.

5. I have to get at least 7 hours of sleep or I am not happy. Preferably 7 in a row. Kids waking me up in the night makes me cranky.

6. I love to read. I mean, love to read. But because I only have so much time in a day to myself, and blogging takes every second of that time, I hardly read anymore.

7. My birthday is on the 13th. 13 is my lucky number. In fact, my 16th birthday was on Friday the 13th and it was one of my best birthdays ever.

8. I can remember things that are really stupid and unimportant, like my home phone number growing up from ages 3-10, but I can't seem to remember important things, like taking my husband's lunch to his work immediately after he calls to remind me to bring it to him.

9. I have a little bit of social phobia. In theory, I want to meet people and be friendly and such, but when the opportunity presents itself, I tend to freak out and not want to go. Usually I force myself to go anyway, but once in a while I chicken out and stay home.

10. I hate to go long distances in cars, whether I am driving or a passenger. I feel like my life is on hold in this little cooped up area until I get to my destination. I don't drink any liquid while I am going long distance, so I don't have to stop the car for a bathroom break. Frankly, I am proud of myself for driving our family from Utah to Iowa and back when we moved last year (Christian was in the moving van; I was in the car). And I probably only peed once every 6 hours on the drive.

Well, there you have it. A little bit of craziness on my part. And the end of a long week of getting to know me better. Here's hoping you stay around!

LOL! I am cranky with out food too! One time I got in a fight with chad and gave him silent treatment for a couple of hours. Then I was feeling so sad/mad/upset that I ate some ice cream... and then a sandwich... and then an apple.. and then I realized that I wasn't even mad at him. Just really really hungry.

I bet you have a bit of hypoglycemia. I'm a grouch when I'm hungry, too. And I'm a grouch when the kids wake in the night. Actually not usually when they wake, but during the next day.

And I'm sorry you don't enjoy being in the car for too long! Road trips are awesome if you do!

That is true about sleep and hunger with women I think. I do think your nice.

I understand number 9 completely. I am there too. Always have been. That and crowds. Being LDS makes those situation to confront more often. I think that is a blessing. I would be home 24/7 if I wasn't LDS I think.

Just returned late last night from Cedar. Wish I would have realized before hand you lived in Cedar, then we could have worked on your Social phobia because I would have so hooked up with you. Maybe when I get down that way again we can work on that social phonbia.

BTW--I need my sleep too. The older I get the more I realize I am not young anymore and I NEED MY SLEEP!!!!!

1 of 8 is going to France next summer and we are so excited for her! She speaks French fluently and can't wait to have a chance to use it 'for real'! It's been years since I was in Paris, so I don't have a helpful list of neat out-of-way places or awesome shopping--but I do have best wishes to send with you for an incredible trip!

Loved your Honest list--hey, would you mind telling me if these pants make me look fat? They don't? Oh, great! Thanks so much!
;o)

Blessings!

At the risk of being repetitive, I'll just say yes yes and YES.

My husband jokes that he had to feed me before proposing or I might have said no.

I need to check out that blog, since that's the name of my blog post today!

And I crack my neck all the time. Is that not good?

And I've been to therapy once, about 2 years ago. I completely agree. It's very, uh, therapeutic. :)

That is way cool about your birthday being on Friday the 13th!

And I have a bit of a social phobia myself but I, too, push myself through...most of the time.

I don't know when the last time was that I got 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I can't believe you can go that long in a car without stopping to pee.

how ironic that the #1 item listed on your honesty list is that you can't be honest, if it means being mean. ;)

i can't wait to hear about paris! is there any room in your suitcase for me?

my 10 yr old DD would LOVE to go with you. A dream of hers...

sorry its gonna be a long winter though. I read your side bars  and will be back to continue doing so :)

Err...that was really, really freaky to read. Because every single one of those, except about the birthday date, are ones I could have written.

I knew there was a reason I liked you! =P

I pop my neck too. Nothing like a good neck pop.

#8 is me too. My phone number from ages 1-11 was 465-4507. I've forgotten to get bread for 3 shopping trips in a row.

We have a lot in common. I am cranky when I'm hungry. Don't even expect me to fast when we have church at 1:00 and work in the primary/nursery! My birthday is on the 13th, I'm taller than my husband when wearing shoes, I have social phobia which goes great with my husband's career, and I love to read.

I have never been to therapy, but maybe I should, I need help with my fabric addiction.

Good post. I got this tag, too, although I haven't done it yet. I debate whether I really feel like being honest right now. SOmetimes nice is much more comforting.

I can totally relate to 2, 6, 8, 9 & 10. In fact, #9 has been giving me fits lately.

I so wish I could go back to Paris right this minute. I would choose it over the ring or camera any day.

Diane said...

HI Erin, thanks for commenting on my blog. Your mother ring would be stunning!

To answer your question, my husband is the excutive officer (XO) of his squadron (it's a Navy thing). He is second in command. I should be way more social with the wives, but it is just not my thing. I support him in other ways, but not so much in the social stuff.

We must be sisters or something. Except for the pee. I have to stop between here and Logan more often than not, and it's only 2 1/2 hours there.

13 is my favorite number to! I also get really cranky if I am hungry (so does my son). Fun post to read!

the sleep especially. ugh. and therapy. and remembering random things--i have all my high school friends numbers memorized to this day.

I thought we were practically twins (separated at birth, though not surgically) then I read all the comments and Cheez, it seems we aren't as alike as the rest of your posse. You sure have a big posse! I guess it's because you are too nice to tell the truth. ;)

#2 and #5 are SO exactly me! Sleep and food, my most important happy factors.

Call me lame, but what's a "trillion ring"?

I've seen your comments on so many other blogs that I thought I'd check you out and I'm happy I did!

After reading this list, I must admit, we're a lot a like! First of all that whole cranky thing when your hungry? That is me to a T. I also get faint and all the rest of it.

I'm with you on therapy! Big time! Oh, #9 is me too.

Though we differ on your last one.

Anyway, glad I stopped by.

Oh, and have fun in France! I love it there.

I use the canon rebel and want to marry it. Get one, for sure, when you can!
