On the Twelfth Day of Christmas I Posted on My Blog

TWELVE SPECIAL ORNAMENTS

Being as how we have been married for 11 years, we have spent 12 Christmases together. I had the brilliant idea our first year of marriage to purchase an ornament in the Hallmark-half price-day after Christmas ornament sale. It was a simple heart that reads, "Our First Christmas together 1997." Ever since then I have purchased an ornament that somehow has to do with the occurrences of that year. It is fun to try to find something that relates to our family. Here they are in chronological order. This year's is the key, since we just purchased our first house.
Incidentally, when I was pulling the ornaments off of the tree to take this picture, I noticed something that seemed a little odd on the tree. I took a closer look and found this:It's one of those 3M sticky hooks. Apparently one of the boys found it and thought the Christmas tree was the perfect place to hang the hook!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'll see you in the new year!

We give ornaments to our kids every year as well. My parents did this for me when I was growing up. That was so great because when I got married I actually had quite a few decorations to fill a small tree. Merry Christmas.

I've never done this, I probably won't start now since I would be so far behind. I wish I had thought of it. It is a great idea.

I love collecting fun ornaments. So much more fun than having a "designer" tree.

Christmas ornaments are a lot like charms on a charm bracelet--they are a story of our lives. I always buy one when we go on a trip and buy special ones for my kids. It's fun. Have a great Christmas!

That's a great idea! And those ornaments are so cute.
I think the tree is a great place for a sticky hook.
If it can hang, it should go on the tree.

It would be fun to hear what the meaning of each ornament is, and the story behind it. :) Have a very Merry Christmas

We buy each ofr kids an ornament each christmas with the idea that when they leave home they will have a collection already. My parents did this for me. But I sure will be sad as each ornament has special meaning when the kids picked it out. Merry Christmas and thank you so much for commenting on my blog. I always look for my Erin comments:)

What a great tradition, you can relive all those years as you pull out the ornaments. I love decorating trees!

And the 3M hook- what a great idea!

Great tradition, and you've got to love the boy who added the personal touch with the 3M sticky hook. LOL!

I have enjoyed following your 12 days of Christmas. The ornaments are so nice... I used to make them all the time...but now I need to find the box that they are in. Our tree disaster this year was such a pain... we found a nest in the tree.

You did it! The twelve days of Christmas. What a wonderful series of posts. I especially loved how you ended things...with a description of the Christmas ornaments you have purchased over the years. I must know, though, what is the significance of many of the ornaments that you showed, e.g., Bob the Builder. Also, is that a John Deere tractor that I see? :)

Happy New Year!
