My New Year's Resolutions

Many people have been discussing their theme word or scripture for the upcoming year. I haven't taken the time to think something like that through...I'll probably get around to it. Probably. I thought about making New Year's resolutions, but I wanted to ensure that they would be resolutions I could actually keep. Therefore, "keeping a cleaner house" is not on my list. Here are some of the things I came up with:

  • Don't exercise, unless it is bowling on my brother's Wii. (My shoulder hurt for days!)

  • Find someone with the first season of LOST on dvd, so I can become a junkie and watch it until my eyeballs fall out of my head. (I've never seen an episode)

  • Get out more, instead of staying in the safety of my house all of the time.

  • Find someone who owns Rock Band, so I can become either a singing star, or a wicked awesome drummer.

  • Meet some blog friends in real life from the Cedar/St. George area (does anyone want to plan a meet and greet, since I tend to stay in the safety of my house all of the time?)

  • Attain world peace, or at least pilot a commercial jet...oh wait, those were Phoebe's resolutions, not mine.

  • Go to Paris sometime this year.
  • Eat more chocolate.

I think many, if not most, of these resolutions are attainable. Especially the Paris one, since my plane ticket is already purchased. What are your resolutions, and how attainable are they?

I love your resolutions; they make me feel good all over. I'll join you on some of them-- Every goal is easier to accomplish with a friend. :)

p.s. That means you can get me a ticket to Paris, too.

Wow, Erin! You're a genius. These are great resolutions. I really hope you can manage to keep the last one.

I'll have to join you on the "get out more" one, as I tend to be a MAJOR hermit. Or at least I stay home a lot more than I should.

They are great resolutions. My resolution is to have more posts in 2009 than I had in 2008. I think it's attainable!

I want to become a wicked awesome drummer! I need to go find someone with Rock Band. . . Happy New Year!

Great list! I'm a firm believer in making resolutions that are actually attainable.

I spent a long time yesterday regrouping, which I do on a regular basis it seems, but I feel this is the first time that I am more realistic with my goals and where I want to be by the end of next year. Good luck and can't wait to hear about Paris!

What's a little 3 hour drive to meet some friends?

I'll be posting my resolutions on Monday. They're sort of along the same lines.

Happy New Year!

I love your resolutions! I wish Paris was on MY list! Oh, and I loved your post about the meaning of your ornaments...I think that is such a cute idea. Happy New Year!

you'll LOVE lost! Check out mine on my family blog! BTW We missed you last weekend!

I'm with Kristina . . . we have Rock Band (hint, hint).

Do your very best to keep that last resolution--I know it'll be hard. :D

My resolutions are always smaller things with steps that I know I can mark off and not fail. This year, they don't even go for the whole year. My first resolution/goal: Get in 1,000 words Mon-Sat and finish the draft of my work in progress by Feb 1. I have a list of other goals I'll get to when that one is done.

Happy new year!

I have Rock Band and Wii. Why can't you live closer to me? We could have so much fun!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I have always avoided setting resolutions for the New Year. I always looked at them as setting myself up for failure. This year, I decided to change things up...My resolution is to lose weight. We'll see how it all works out!

I think I should have gone with yours...they are Great!

Joel got a wii for Christmas...we have the sports and another one and you should come play with me! No Rock Band yet though, sorry.

I totally think we should do a southern Utah meet and greet. Lets plan on it. Even if you and I are the only ones who show.

Ha! What perfectly fabulous resolutions. We got hooked on Lost this year when the sci fi channel started playing four episodes every monday. It was sweeeeet. I didn't expect to like that show but I LOVE it! Now they've stopped showing it and we're stuck in season 3 so we plan to start renting them from Hollywood so that we can get caught up before the new season starts!

My resolutions are pretty run-of-the-mill. I woke up feeling verrrrrry resolutiony this morning. I want to get my house more organized and continue to get more healthy. But my only official resolution is to read my kids a story from the Friend every night, then make sure we have family prayer.

Don't exercise! Haaaaahahahaha!

We started watching Lost on line last year. I think we did watch until our eyeballs fell out. Too bad they are no longer available on line. :(

I wish I lived in southern Utah to meet you! We have Wii fit and my kids beat me with all the exercises except for yoga then I rock! We also have Guitar Hero 4 which is the same as rock band. Those are good resolutions as none of them can be broken! And yes, still sunny and my kids are in shorts:) Pool is too cold or I would go throw them in.

I think you are a frickin' genius. And I apologize if someone already said that. I was sleeping in trying to ignore the barking dog next door so I came late to the party, the good stuff as well as the obvious already having been said.

Barbaloot said...

I wish you luck---especially on the chocolate one cuz that is HARD.

I think you should move up to the Utah Valley area...in which case we could plan a meet and greet.

You can come to my house and play Rock Band 2. We just got it for Christmas. I mostly do the singing. I'm not coordinated to drum or play the guitar. The best thing is I score high on the easy level, but I know I don't sound good.

I'm fully willing to drive up from Vegas, just say the word...

And you are truly brilliant to have such attainable goals. Brilliant!

I like the more chocolate resolution. Yum.

I love LOST as much as the next person, but watching it until your eyeballs fall out just doesn't seem reasonable. Maybe until you go all bleary eyed, that might be ok :D

Happy New Year!!

I got hooked on Lost in the 2nd season and ended up renting all of the first season and watching it back to back. I got a little obsessed, but since last season was so screwy, I'm over it.
You should do your meet and greet while I'm down there in January!

Happy New Year!

I got sore when I played the wii, too.

These are great resolutions. I also didn't resolute to keep my house clean cause I knew it wouldn't happen.

p.s. I'm so stinkin Jealous that you're going to Paris. Can you just hide me in your suitcase?

I don't think I could help you out with any of those goals there, except the chocolate, shall I mail some to you?

Come and live by me Erin. We can rock out together. I am glad all is going well for you and your resolution choices.

Happy New Year to you.

Erin I love it! You are so funny! You're erally making the most of this next year. Good luck with all of it!!!

Great resolutions. Last Jan I gave the mini lesson for RS enrichment on resolutions. I found an article talking about hwo hers were to not gain weight (instead of losing it), teach her kids to do laundry (instead of trying to catch up) etc. I thought that was great.

My goal this year is to gain weight. I'm hoping to get pregnant. Ssshhhhhh, though, we're not telling people.

I am a LOST junkie!! I love that show! Try and watch it if you can, it is amazing!
I just played Wii bowling and man I was so addicted!!
Fun resolutions!

I love LOST!!! I can hardly wait until February when the new season starts. I would definitely recommend renting the DVDs if you can't find someone to borrow from. That's how I got hooked.

We have Rock Band. Next time you're in town, come to my house and we can play.

Awww-So refreshing to see attainable resolutions Erin.

Happy New Year!

You need to be from Boise. 'Cause I totally want to get together, but I don't leave the area much myself. Drat.
