What Your Birthday Reveals About You

In honor of this being my birthday month (my birthday is on Friday the 13th this year, woot woot!) I decided to repost a cool post from last year about numerology.  For some of you it's a rerun.  For others, it's new (and fun).  Enjoy!

When I lived in Iowa, a friend told me about a cool book that was on clearance at Borders, and I went out and bought it. It's called "What Your Birthday Reveals About You." It's the kind of book you can have fun with at a party because every day of the year (aka your birthday) has a page describing you, based on your astrological sign, the alignment of the planets, and your "root number." I can't tell every one of you the information specific to your birth date, but I can give you a little taste of who you are based on your root number.

So, here is how you figure out your root number. It is your birth date only, the numbers added together until you have a single number. For example, my birthday is on the 13. 1+3=4. So my number is 4. Someone born on the 22 would also be a 4. Someone born on the 28: 2+8=10; 1+0=1. So their number would be a 1. Make sense? Your answer should be a single digit, 1 through 9.

Okay, now I'm going to give you a few sentences about your root number (each number actually has a whole page of description). We'll see how accurate (or ridiculous) your root number truly is.

Number 1 = Individuality. Ones are forthright leaders, pioneers, and fearless adventurers of society. Your dynamic, self-reliant personality prompts you to assume a leading role in all your endeavors. You express yourself through your own originality and creativity...Ones don't respond well to authority or the advice of others. Finesse is not your forte.

Number 2 = Duality. Twos are the partners and peacemakers of a society. Your sociable, courteous nature brings balance and harmony to all your interactions. A good listener and persuasive talker...You're usually the first to make up after an argument.

Number 3 = Exuberance. Threes are the friendly, the witty, and the charmers of society. You are a born entertainer with a cheerful, easygoing manner and a gift for gab that endears you to all kinds of people. Threes are generally multi-talented and sometimes have difficulty choosing among various career options. Naturally artistic and creative.

Number 4 = Stability. Fours are the workers and builders of society. Your vitality, sense of purpose, and will power keep you going long after others have run out of steam. Your outlook is traditional and you dislike upsetting changes. As a four, you're totally trustworthy and dependable and may be relied upon to follow through on your promises.

Number 5 = Freedom. Someone who is a five is a freewheeling adventurer who adapts readily to any situation. You have a genial personality and make friends easily. Because of your characteristic sociability, you rarely feel down or depressed. Your knack for coping with the unexpected gives you the confidence to try new things that are unusual and exciting.

Number 6 = Harmony. You strive for peace and harmony. Essentially an idealist, you're the original Good Samaritan. Sixes like to entertain and will spend lavishly for parties and other social affairs. They tend to be charming and attractive, with magnetic personalities that draw others to them.

Number 7 = Wisdom. The typical number seven is a truth-seeking intellectual with a decided knack for sizing up any situation in the blink of an eye. Other people may regard you as a geniune mystery, because your somewhat solitary nature is much given to private contemplation. You're actually happiest on your own.

Number 8 = Authority. Eight represents power and authority in the material world. It is the number of leadership, business acumen, tenacity, and hard work. Many number eights are wealthy and powerful. They are so dedicated to work that they are generally viewed as workaholics. They often experience deep feelings of loneliness.

Number 9 = Compassion. Nine is the number of universal receptivity and heightened awareness. You possess an extremely perceptive mind with intuitive powers bordering on the psychic. You understand the human condition, and in your work with others you are selfless and courageous. You refuse to tolerate injustice. However, you are also impatient and impulsive and often forget to think before you speak.

I am a four. And yep, it pretty much sums me up. Stable, dependable, trustworthy, faithful. Threes are so fun and charming; I'm wondering if the most popular bloggers are threes.

Now it's your turn - tell me what number you are, and if the description is dead-on or silly.

Oh, I'm a 5. Not quite how I see myself. Especially the social aspect. I have never felt like I made friends easily. I wonder if other people would agree that I am a 5?

I'm back..

I wonder if when you were born, vs when you were supposed to be born makes a difference. I was a month early..and should have been born on Nov 16, making me a 7. Which would be almost dead on! Hmm....silly probably, but fun to think about!

I remember this!

I'm a four and it's pretty accurate. I think? :)

Oh, I'm a 5. There are some things that are true--I do cope with difficult situations well, and have the ability to press forward. I think I am probably more a 4 than a 5.

I am a 7.. and well there are bits and pieces that could be true I guess. I do like being alone at times.. well actually I often quite enjoy my alone time.. maybe it is more true than I realized.
Four seems to fit you. And happy Birthday early :)

Hmm---I'm a 3, but I'm not so sure it's accurate. Exuberance and a born entertainer are not necessarily ways I'd describe myself. I'm more of a wall-flower:)

I am a 2 and it was pretty much exact! Crazy. My hubby and son are both a 7. It is interesting as it is exact for my hubby, and I am curiois to see if that is how my son will be as he gets older.

Haha this was way off for both me and my husband. I'm a 3, and i'm ridiculously shy and pretty much the opposite of everything said. My husband is an 8, and "leader" is the last word I would use to describe him... he won't even wear the pants in our family! But that was fun, thanks. :)

I am a 9. And if fits me pretty well. I want to be a nurse and I worked as a CNA for about 3 years! LOVED it!! I LOVE people and taking care of others!

(not sure about the psychic part --bordering on...Hmmm.)

I have never considered myself intuitive before---but I LOVE taking care of others... Thanks for the post.

I am a 3. I would say that is pretty accurate. Unfortunately, it doesn't also say "Amazing and awesome."

I'm a two... I guess I am pretty courteous. Most of the time.

We share the same birthday month:) I am a 1 and some describes me and other parts just made me laugh.

I'm a 3, but it doesn't describe me at all. I should have been a 9. That's me to a T!

I'm a 3, which suits me quite well. But 6 and 9 are also close, and interestingly enough, multiples of 3....

Umm...my birthday is the 19th so that makes me a ten...except there is no ten.

No fair! =P

I think I'll be in the hospital on your birthday so Happy (early) Birthday just in case!

Cool- I am a 3, I like how it describes me.....at least I like to think of my self as creative and out going, let's say if I am not this way already I can strive towards it?

3 here too and yes it is very close. I enjoyed reading what each of my kids were and they were right too.

Wow! My husband's birthday was dead on!

I'm a one and I admit it's pretty close, but they use nice words to say "bossy and loud and giver of unsolicited advice." :)

I am a 2 and my hubby is a 9....it's kind of funny how close they are. Crazy!

jomama said...

I'm a 3. Can you see it or not?

jomama said...

My husband is a 7 and I'd say his description is right on, too.

Wow, you share a birthday with my mom and my Brother In-Law. The question is… where you born on a Friday???

I was born on a single digit day, so I guess I'm just a 9. Don't know how psychic I am, but the rest makes good sense.

Thanks for sharing,

I'm number 7 and not even close!
Oh well, they are fun anyway huh!

I'm an 8 and I can see how that could be true if I let myeslf get that way. I love the "wealthy and powerful" part of it anyway! This was really interesting though. Thanks for sharing!

I'm a nine. And, oh yes, that's all me.

Sherrie said...

I'm a 7 and it has correctly described me. So has my husband (3), and my daughter (5).. my son on the other hand (8) does not describe him at all unless he does some drastic changing! Thanks for sharing. This was very interesting.

Dang, that is pretty accurate (I'm a 9)...but instead of "bordering on psychic" I often see myself bordering on psycho :o)

It could be a little true!! Mine is an 8
