Utah

I asked Christian what he misses about Utah, and he said, "Do you have a pen? How fast can you write?" Let's see if you can figure out which ones are mine and which ones are his.

Things we miss about Utah/Orem:

  • mountains

  • mountain biking

  • fly fishing

  • backpacking

  • camping in normal places where it gets cool at night

  • mountains (again)

  • favorite fishing spots

  • the Uintas

  • outdoor stores (CABELA'S, Out 'n' Back, Sportsman's Warehouse)

  • friends and family

  • good sandwich shops (The Italian Place - yum!)

  • a good grocery store (I miss you, Maceys!)

  • being able to go to whatever store I want to in 5 minutes, instead of driving 45 minutes
  • a front yard for the kids to play in (we have no yard here, and have to drive anywhere for the kids to play outside)
Then, these are things we definitely DON'T miss:

  • police cars in our neighborhood AT LEAST once a week

  • the sound of ambulances at least once a day

  • kids, kids, and more kids everywhere you go (out here, we get smiles and "coo"s at our children because kids are generally more rare here)

  • the terrible drivers! I once saw on the corner of University Parkway and State street, five cars turn left AFTER the light had already turned red. Here, I have seen two people speed through yellow lights in the three months I have lived here. People are much more conscientious here.

  • pollution

  • forest fires and smoke
Aidan's fever finally broke last night, after 6 full days of having a fever, and after 12 days of being extremely sick. Hallelujah! We hope we're out of the woods finally.

The boys wanted to be wrapped up in their blankets as tightly as possible and then set on the couch to try to get out of them. We had to take a picture:

GREAT list - amazingly ours is about the same. Though we LOVE the beach and the ocean of Florida too. I am glad Aidan's fever finally broke and he is feeling better. Kaitlyn is just getting sick. I hope it doesn't last as long as yours has! We miss you guys!

I totally agree that I don't miss Utah drivers. They are slower here in Iowa (farmers just aren't in a hurry), but more courteous in general.
And I miss Smith's the most.
