We borrowed the book "Leaf Man" by Lois Ehlert from the library, thanks to a recommendation from my friend Deneal. Then Christian suggested, without ever having read Deneal's blog, to go on a walk at the park and find some leaves to create Ethan's very own Leaf Man. This is what he created:
And last, but certainly not least, my mom made my birthday cake from scratch. It is an Oreo Cookie Chocolate Cake, and I pulled the recipe out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine 10 years ago, and have been too intimidated to ever make it because it is from scratch (no box) and looks too difficult. So my mom made it for me! It is so pretty...we'll see how it tastes tonight! The restaurant I was planning on going to is closed tonight for a private party, so I'm REALLY bummed. But it is still a special birthday, #31. I'm old!

So I thought today was your birthday, but then it was James' friend's birthday, so I thought that maybe that's why I thought it was someone's birthday. Anyway, happy birthday! You don't look a day over 24 (and that is a really young age, I should know).
