Chocolate Cake
-Use one chocolate cake mix – bake as directed in two 8-inch cake pans, cool and then cut in half horizontally.
Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Whip the whipping cream. Then add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix the cream cheese in a separate bowl until nice and soft, then fold into the whipped cream and crushed Oreos (if you choose to make an Oreo cake).
Chocolate Icing:
Put in saucepan on medium heat– ½ cup butter, 1/8 cup baking cocoa, 1/3 cup milk. Stir occasionally. Bring just to a boil. Remove from heat and add 1 lb. (1/2 bag) powdered sugar. Beat well and cool until spread-able consistency.
You will have four skinny 8 inch cake halves. Put one on your plate or serving dish, add 1/3 of filling. Then put another cake half on top, add 1/3 of filling, another cake half, 1/3 of filling, then last cake half on top. Frost with chocolate icing.
This is really yummy in and of itself. If you want to make it into an Oreo chocolate cake, crush 8 or 9 Oreos (with your hands) and add them to the filling portion of the recipe when you are folding in the cream cheese. And then on top of the frosted cake, you can add this as a very top layer (like the picture of my birthday cake):
4 Tbls. soft butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
½ tsp. vanilla
3-4 Tbls. Milk (approx.)
pinch of salt
Mix all together adding milk a little at a time until it is of thin enough consistency to place on top of cake and work with the back of a spoon to edges of the cake to drip down the sides just a little bit. Crush 4-6 Oreos and put on top as garnish.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it. If you make it, let me know how it turns out (and if my instructions don't make sense, call me and I'll explain.)

I'm so with you on the greasy hands! I can't stand lotion on my hands because of that. But everywhere else is great, I'll have to check that out!
I love the testimonial - can I send it to Lucy? or you can send it to her at genevasprings.com on a chat link. I am recently an independent sales representative for the stuff... keep spreading the word. If you want, you can get an order together and I'll get you a "commission"! happy birthday, by the way! Email me your phone number, apparently, I don't have it.

fruit slices and orange cream are my favorite! (i'm no distributor but i love the stuff) however -- i just have to wonder about your non-greasy comment. i could never quilt right after. in fact -- i strictly use it only before bed because i think it IS quite greasy. maybe my body chemistry is different?
bewildered in bowling green,

ps. i did think of you on your birthday -- and i know that doesn't help today -- but happy 31 anyway.
My mom says she quilts right after. I don't sew, so I don't know. But I would say for about 6 or 7 minutes I try to avoid stuff, but I even noticed when I picked up my leather wallet right after putting some lotion on, I didn't leave fingerprints on it (unlike when I use Bath & Body Works lotion.)
ok- so it is only noticably greasy when you use too much! Note the slogan - A Little goes a long way...
Interesting, I'm going to have to check this out. I hate the grease! In fact, I swore off lotion all together in my single days because I had too many embarrassingly wet hand moments (you know a little sweat plus lotion equals dripping wet).
Yeah, I'm all for making things from scratch, and I'm picky about what treats I love. But it's been my experience that box cakes are superior to "from scratch" cakes. They're softer and more moist. It's fun to dress up a box cake, though. I like to play with them a bit.
I've seen that brand of lotion, I didn't know it came in flavors. I hate lotion, but am forced to use it (stupid sensitive skin). Thanks, I'll have to try it!
The cake sounds great, I am not much for lotion. It is GREASY enough in the air here most days!
