The day of gluttony is over (hey, I only had three pieces of pie!). But seriously, we had a very nice Thanksgiving. As we were eating, we all talked about what we are thankful for. Ethan even wrote down a list earlier in the day (all in big block letters HOME, FAMILY, RUTH HERE - I'm putting this cute list in the scrapbook). I didn't even stress out once during the day of making an entire Thanksgiving dinner, which if you know me very well, it is an amazing feat! However, there was one time that I was feeling ornery. Here was our menu: turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed cauliflower and peas, rolls, cranberry sauce, jello and Cool Whip, lemonade made from scratch, Sprite, lemon meringue pie, and peanut butter pie. Here is what Aidan ate: four bites of jello, with the Cool Whip scraped off. And a piece of peanut butter pie. I couldn't beg him, threaten him, or cajole him to eat even one bite of ANYTHING else. I could have made sourdough pancakes and he would have been happy. The life of a two year old. After dinner picture. Aidan wasn't even at the table by now.
Christian carving the turkey!
Ethan colored, cut, and glued a cornucopia together all by himself. What a great idea, Ruth!

When I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner, Aidan called out, "Mommy, come here!!" I went in his room to find this - he had climbed up on top of the plastic dresser in his closet, on top of his stool, and was trying to reach the guitar up in the top of his closet. When I got it down, he jumped down, said, "Cool dude!" (must be because of the sunglasses), and started playing the guitar while singing, "Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads. Fish heads, fish heads, eat 'em up, YUM!" I tried to get video, but it didn't work. Bummer!
Now that Thanksgiving is over, Let the Christmas music BEGIN!

Cute family pic! Interesting choice of songs for Aidan. Hooray for Christmas music! Mom and I snuck some in on Thanksgiving. Thanks for the Sarah Maclachan Christmas CD! No one was even the wiser!
Love, Brooke
Happy Thanksgiving Erin!
YAY Christmas music, my favorite time of year. Aiden and Avery sound very similar in their eating styles. I made Avery take a bite of everything, but all she ate was a roll. Thats it and she was done. Oh well, maybe next year she will catch on. Hey can I get your address, I would love to send you guys a Christmas card.
Ashton did the same thing. Two bits of jello, two bites of mashed potatoes, and some roll. So much for slaving in the kitchen!!
Glad your thanksgiving was great. I love the cornucopia and the thankful list...precious.
Well, somehow I managed to pull off a turkey and 4 side dishes that required an oven without "borrowing" the neighbor's. Zoe only ate the potatoes, stuffing, and of course the rolls, but she ate lots of that so I was satisfied. I'm excited for Christmas music as well. James won't let me put on Baby Santa until the actual Christmas season. So picky!
I have to admit...I've been listening to Christmas music since Oct. I love your blog and your smart kids! So fun. Looks like you had a fun thanksgiving.
I can't believe you made all that yummy stuff and your kitchen is clean?!?!? How do you get Aidan to eat enough to sustain him? When does it end???? When do they start eating again?!?!?!?!?
