First (Feeble) Attempt at Potty Training

Name: Aidan
Age: 2 yrs, 9 months
Sex: boy (I hear it's harder with boys)
Attempt: 2 hours running around naked
Results: one tiny piddle on the floor 30 minutes in, 2 times of sitting on the toilet, 24 times of asking if he needs to go potty, me realizing that he has had nothing to drink this morning so I gave him a drink 1 1/2 hours in. 4 times of talking up what a big boy he will be when he goes in the toilet. Two hours of mild frustration. He held it in for the last hour and a half! I tried to bribe with a "potty party" and chocolate cupcakes, a Maximum Destruction Monster Truck, telling him about all of his friends who are big boys/girls because they go in the toilet. All to no avail.

I don't have the energy for this.
I guess we'll try again tomorrow. (Or maybe next week, or next month.)

Amendment: about 1/2 hour after I posted this, Aidan still being naked because he refused to put a diaper back on, went potty in the toilet!!! Maybe we do have hope after all!

Yahoo! Good job:). You are funny Erin! I have been debating on whether or not to start with Devon. I think he's ready, I'm not sure I am though... Carson was a nightmare to try and potty-train. I would never want to wait that long again...oh wait--I did! Too late. Oh well. Maybe you'll inspire me to try this week.

All attempts at potty training are good attempts I am trying to tell myself! I think that is the part of parenting from newborn to graduation that I am dreading the most. I am not even going to pretend to attempt with Keira until after the baby is born and on some sort of schedule. I am not going to stress over this (too late maybe?) So I say good luck to you and Aidan.

Good Luck! I'm really not looking forward to the "training" part of that stage. Although no diapers would be worth it.

best wishes. I waited until Tyson was 3 years and 6 months. Still he has no accidents at night(Knocking on wood) and I still have to ask him if he needs to go after 6 months. He is doing well though. we still have a few accidents, but I am smiling that I do not have to take diapers with me
