We went bowling as a family for the first time ever. What an exciting experience! When we first got there, Ethan and Aidan were just staring at the people playing with kind of glazed looks on their faces. I guess they didn't really know what to think. However, Ethan had seen a Caillou where Caillou went bowling, so Ethan had lots of questions for me: "Will we wear league shirts?" Um, nope. Just butt-ugly shoes. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. There were two things in particular that stood out with each boy. Ethan: I don't know how he did it, but he got a gutter ball WITH bumpers. And, I tried once to have him throw (what is the technical word for how someone launches the bowling ball down the lane?) the ball rather that granny-roll it. He put his fingers in the holes, I told him it was heavy, let it go, and it dropped right to the floor. It was too heavy for him. So, he granny-rolled it the whole time. And Aidan was a complete hoot. Once, it was Christian's turn, but Aidan was so excited he sneaked under Christian with a ball and nearly launched it right under Christian's feet (when I say "launch," I mean that in a strictly let-go of it sense. You'll see what I mean when you watch the video). And another time, he got a little confused and ALMOST let the ball go down the next lane over, right where two people were consistently hitting strikes and spares. Christian caught him just in time. I'm sure that man would have really appreciated the 3 or 4 points he would have gotten instead of his usual strike.
Final scores: Aidan - 63, Ethan - 61, Erin - 106, Christian - 151
(Hey, I have only bowled like 4 times in my life. I was proud to break 100)

Rolling the ball

After rolling (I loved both of these pictures. I couldn't leave either out)
Accomplishment!!

Do you have a while to sit here? Because that's how long it is going to take to watch Aidan's ball go down the lane and hit the pins.
I had to do this video too because Aidan's excitement was SOOO cute.

Looks like a lot of fun! It is so fun to see children experience things for the first time, isn't it? Caleb asks on a daily basis if we can go bowling. Luckily we got a wii for christmas where he can bowl a little more often.
I love bowling! It's so fun with kids, too. My brother has actually managed a gutter ball with bumpers too. I can't wait till Shelby can bowl with us.
Erin, You are like a super mom!! How fun to go bowling and sledding with the kids!! I have to say I need to be more like you!!! Take the kids out more often, but then again I guess I would have to take my niece too and 3 against one is not my kind of fun!!
That looks like TONS of fun. I can't wait until Zoe is old enough to do "real" stuff with. I love the pictures of Ethan. That kid cracks me up.
That's so cool! We'll have to try this out soon, maybe this week even, I hadn't really thought Devon would enjoy it, but maybe he would:). Such cute pictures:).
Those are good scores for kids! (even for adults)
So cute and fun! Our boys LOVE bowling, every time we drive by they beg to go~ I felt like I was watching cooper bowl all over again (it takes forever for the ball to hit the pins) I always feel like I hear the jeapordy song in the background!
BOWLING! That's what we need to try next. You're a genius.
