It's a Blessing and a Curse

Here are a couple of cute examples of things that have happened with Ethan today regarding his new-found ability to hear (and his extra-sensitiveness)... To hear how he did with his surgery, read the post below this one.

I had just started the washing machine, Aidan was crying, and I was turning on a show so Aidan would settle down. Ethan covered his ears, ran into his bedroom, and closed and locked the door. He couldn't stand the pandemonium that is our house.

After Aidan stopped crying, Ethan came out and started to watch the show too. I went into the kitchen to load the dishwasher. After a couple of minutes, Ethan said, "Would you please be quiet Mom?" I said, "I'm being as quiet as I can, bud." He said, "No, the faucet water is too loud. I can't hear the tv."
Aidan coughed and Ethan said, "AIDAN! That hurt my ears! Don't cough!"

It's going to take him a while to get used to the constant sounds around the house!

How funny! Did this happen last time?

Stan says he can relate to Ethan. He had 5 or 6 sets of tubes in his ears growing up. He says that he hope Ethan is feeling better and prays that the tubes stay in this time. He has permanant hearing loss because of the many many many different tubes in his ears and he is still plagued with ear infections. Less pray that Ethan is not the same way.

Poor Ethan, I hope he adjusts quickly. Carson is really sensitive to noises anyways though--he's always plugging his ears with weird sounds or telling me things are annoying when I hardly notice them.
