Christian and I have been married for over 10 years. It has been the best 10 years of my life. Our lives have certainly been filled with ups and downs; we have treasured the "ups" and weathered the "downs."
I have started noticing one of the "downs" of being married this long: some of our possessions are wearing out and/or breaking down. Our TV is on the blitz. It won't turn off when you push the power button (on the TV or the remote). We have had to plug it directly into the receiver so it turns off when the receiver turns off. Read the latest Aidanism to see a funny anecdote about the TV. Also, our VCR is on its last leg. It didn't help when last week Aidan said, "I put a quarter in it." Our couch isn't as springy as it once was (partially thanks to two boys jumping on it). And our bed is starting to get a definite dip in the middle. But hey, that just shows that we like to snuggle at night...until I turn into an oven and Christian has to move to the edge of the bed. Yes, I'm a bed (and blanket) hog.
But if I had to trade back the 10 years for all new stuff, I wouldn't. These things remind me that we all love each other, in spite of the quarter in the VCR. However, if the TV breaks, I don't think I could live too long without one...

OH how sad that things wear out huh? WEll to your advantage I think you can get a decent VCR for cheap! Glad taht your marriage is great, and best wishes in the things wearing out!
Maybe the Tax Return Fairy will bring you some new stuff! When I first read the title of your post and the first sentence I thought you were trying to announce that your marriage was broken! Yikes. Don't scare me like that. Survivor starts in 2 days!
I will remember these words of wisdom for the future. At least I know that I have 6 years to save up for new stuff. lol.
Yeah, it is interesting how all our stuff is getting broken and old also. My sentiments are the same, I could not live to long without a tv or a computer. Sad, I know. Our next big save up is for a new mattress, that dip in the middle is getting uncomfortable. I am so glad you and Christian have each other and that you are both strong and not broken
Way to see the positive side of things! I especially love the comment about the dip in the marriage. My poor parents have a dip on each side of the mattress, and a hump in the middle. :)
**Sorry, I meant dip in the MATTRESS. :)
I love how your boys are wild like Max (referring ot Aidan putting a quarter in the VCR). At least he was honest about it, right? Sounds like you guys always have a good laugh with those two cute boys!
Gotta love the dip in the mattress!! ours has one too!! Can you believe how fast time flies? I swear it seems like just yesterday you dated, got married and then it is ten years later or 7 like us!!!
We are experiencing the same thing!!! The couch is starting to show its age and we still have the ames matress that you guys sold us!
