Science Center of Iowa

We had so much fun at the Science Center today. We spent over four hours there. Our kids ran from one display to the next, engulfing themselves in every activity and delighting Christian and I as we watched them learn. Here are some of my favorite pics from the day:

Ethan touching a snake (he also touched a salamander and a box turtle. So brave!)

Aidan picking up a basket. He did this at least 10 times.Look Ma, we're on TV!Ethan's favorite activity the whole day: touching this electricity sphere and then shocking me (or Aidan or Christian; whoever was around, really)Aidan's favorite part: a pinewood derby of sorts, but with Legos. However, Aidan found a Hot Wheels car amongst the Legos and that became his "racecar." He pushed the button and chased his racecar down the hill at least 50 times.

We also went to the IMAX theater, to the Grand Canyon Adventure. Ethan (and Christian and I, for that matter) were amazed with the show. Aidan was a little scared at first. It's so big and so loud; once during a quiet moment Aidan said in a very loud voice, "Daddy, I'm scared!" His eyes were covered for the first 10 minutes. We watched as a group of people went white water rafting down the Colorado River. I only got a little motion sick. They also talked about conservation and how the water levels are dwindling, and they gave ideas of how we can do our part. So that was beneficial for this week's Theme of the Week on the new blog. I love it when things like that coincide, so I can have teaching moments with my children.

This picture was taken in the IMAX theater. I love it because Aidan is so cute! He is having a hard time sitting in the chair; it has partially collapsed on him.

That looks SO fun! I wish they had more things like that to do around here. I also love that pic of Aidan looking stuck in the chair.
