At 10:00 we went and found a good, shady spot for the 11:00 parade. Here are the boys in the jogger. (These pictures you can click on to make bigger. I have no idea why sometimes you can click on pictures and sometimes you can't. Can anyone explain??)

Fourth of July Parade
This morning our ward hosted a pancake breakfast at 7:30. We had a good time, apparently good enough that I didn't take any pictures, even though I had the camera.

Here is Ethan giving a high five to ISU's mascot, Cy.
The boys watching the parade.
There were quite a few tractors in the parade (surprise surprise). And interestingly, there wasn't one float. Well, float in the technical sense. There was one float-like contraption sitting on top of a large trailer. It was still a fun parade though. So many people came to watch, and practically everyone wore red, white and blue.
Isn't this the cutest little outfit ever? I know he's a boy, and outfit isn't a very boyish term, but look at the little blue beret, little red suspenders, and little blue shorts with tiny white whales on them. So cute!!
The funnest part of this parade? The haul in candy the boys got. It was like Halloween! They also threw Bomb Pops, one for everyone, and I got three t-shirts! Plus frisbees and a comic book. The boys were in heaven. When we got home, Aidan said, "I want to start over. I want to go back to the parade and start over."
Tonight we're going to a party in Des Moines and then will go to watch the "big" fireworks there. What an eventful day! Happy Independence Day!

Wait a minute, you went didn't camp out for a whole day on the parade route and you still got to see it from the front row? I'm perplexed.
Ahh, tractors. What a great parade. Really, though, who am I to talk? (We had gobs of horses). Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Sounds like a fun parade! I love parades - we are going to Utah for the 24th to see the parade - can't wait.
Nice parade loot! Wish we could have enjoyed all the US festivities going on. Looks like you had some great events in Ames.
That outfit on that little boy really IS the cutest thing I've ever seen!! And I love the post about the airplanes! Your boys are so creative! Or is is their mom?? :) Probably both. Anyway, looks like you had a fun 4th!
