The kids were excited to see the fireworks. Most kids are, you know. And we were pretty close to the fireworks. Close enough that during the finale a slight wind started blowing and it was raining ash on us for 5 minutes...Ethan got a piece of ash in his eye (poor kid!) which made for a pretty anti-climactic finale.
Before the fireworks started, the boys were happy and excited. Well, maybe a little tired. Okay, maybe nose-picking tired.

But as soon as the first loud boom happened, Aidan jumped in between my legs, curled up into the fetal position head down, and covered his ears. (Then he turned at the last second and this is the picture I got.)

I looked over at Ethan and this is what he did the entire 20-25 minutes:

(His ears are sensitive, you know.)
During the finale, Aidan finally just gave up being excited about the fireworks and this is what he was doing: (he really is under the blanket, I promise)

Unfortunately, maybe we all should have been under the blanket because after Ethan got the ash in his eye we didn't get to see much of anything, anyway. But still, we had a good time and loved being so close to the fireworks.

I am sad we missed fireworks this year while up in Heber. I LOVE fireworks, and we'll be gone the 24th too, so I guess we'll miss them all together this year. Looks like you guys still had fun...bummer about the ash though! Devon would probably do the same thing as Aidan--he has every year so far:).
Looks like you had a great 4th. The parade sounds like you got a lot of great loot. I was thinking this year in Richfield there were not many float floats like their used to be!

Ha, Ha!!! What a funny pic of Aidan! Sierra was so scared of the fireworks, she wouldn't even come outside. Bummer for her! Looks like you had some fun, though.
I think Shelby's ears are very sensitive too. She is scared to death of the vacuum now. I think it's because she can hear better after getting the tubes.
