Finally!

I pre-ordered Breaking Dawn a few weeks ago from Amazon.com. The book came out last Saturday. I finally got my copy in the mail six days later, on Friday afternoon. Everyone else I knew had already read their copy by then. That's the last time I try to save $1.00!

Anyway, I found it good. It didn't solve all of life's problems. But it was a good diversion to life's demands for a couple of days. However, I have to admit that the name Renesmee bugged me. Every time I read it I was irked. Maybe because Bella can be so annoying sometimes. And I thought it was interesting that there was room for a potential sequel. (Did anyone else see it that way?)

Christian asked me to rate the books on a scale from 1-5. I gave #1 a 5, because the whole storyline was so new and fantastic. This one was a 4. (And number 2 I gave a 3, because it was too depressing.) Yes, I know I'm a very reliable book critic; now that I have kids, I only read a few books a year. Before kids, I read tens of books every year. Okay, now I'm rambling. The end.

Apparently people don't like to comment about these books, they just like to write about them on their own blogs. So I will. I did feel like she left it open for sequels, maybe with renesmee and Jacob, but who knows. I would like to know what happens later. I did like Bella's character in this one maybe because she wasn't so dominant, there were a lot of other characters to take up space. I did love how Jacob imprinted on renesmee. Whooee! It did get a little long in the middle, and I wasn't so interested in all of the other vampires so much. Horray for being done!

Yah, I'd give it a 4 as well--I was kind of surprised by all the talk about sex and the inuindos (spelling?). But once over that, I really liked the book

My book didn't come when it was supposed to either. I ordered on Walmart.com. They credited me back my shipping fee, so that was worth it to wait 2 extra days. It is so hard to read with a kid now! I miss it.

How's Cedar City??

I finished my sisters copy today. I echo a lot of the opinions already made. I liked Bella's chilled personality much better this time--not so annoying. I thought it walked the sex line a little too close. I was glad they were at least married, but it still led the readers' thoughts in a dangerous direction. My sister said some criticism for the book included too many convenient occurrences dropped in for the happy ending. I didn't mind, it's not like the story is realistic anyway, and I like happy endings. I agree, it's a 4 overall.

My copy came Thursday afternoon, just as we were headed out of town so I got to take it on my trip. I HATED the name Renesmee. When she said the middle name was Carlie I had a great urge to go through and white out every Renesmee and replace it with Carlie. A little bit too much of a happy ending for me, but I still liked it. I think I like the other books less for how happy it all turned out, but that is just the realist in me. Maybe realists shouldn't read vampire romances?

Totally with you on the name thing. Kersten and I both keep discussing that in length. Bella has always bugged me. I had to keep reminding myself that she is only 18. I did like the book, it says a lot about an author when you can't put it down 4 books in a row.

Ah!!! I was going to say I didn't know who renesme was, because I haven't got to that part yet, but I think I figured that out. And then I read the first part of Brookes comment and had to stop because it was ruining the book for me. Ahh! But I really just wanted to say you should put a header on the post that says "Don't read if you haven't finished the book" I will just have to finish really fast now so I can know the whole story. Hope all is well! I Love the rock wall, it looks so cool, and a great entertainment :) You may have some boys who get into repelling because of the great wall!

I had the same experience with amazon, it was a bummer waiting and seeing stacks of the book at Walmart. I was so tempted to just buy it and send back the amazon one. I just finished it today (8/13).
My ratings are: Twilight:4, New Moon:3, Eclipse:5, Breaking Dawn:2 for the first half, but 5 for the 2nd half. Bella can be annoying, but she was much better in the 2nd half. And the name Renesmee bugged me too. Come on, it could have been so awesomely old fashioned, like Opal, or something more cleverly sentimental.

I find that when I'm reading a book, I get grouchy if I have to stop, so I only allow myself a few a year. Hey, have you ever read "Enchantment" by Orson Scott Card? I love all his stuff, but that seems like one you'd enjoy...if you haven't read it, it's a quick one, go find it.

OK, this is long.
