The first full day we were here (Cedar), it was 94 degrees. Christian and I both commented on how "cool" it felt; that's because in Ames it was 94 degrees and 85% humidity. Change the humidity to 15% and all of a sudden it's tolerable. However, now that we have lived here for over a week, when it's 94 (or 98 or 102 like yesterday), we don't think it's quite so tolerable anymore. 100 degrees is just too hot to go outside and play.
The kids have enjoyed riding their bike in our garage and driveway. We have never had the luxury of just going outside, pulling out the bikes, and riding. In Ames it was way too difficult because of where we lived. So we are very excited to go on little bike rides (and I am excited to pull out a folding chair and read a few magazines while the boys ride in the garage).
Speaking of reading, I pre-ordered Breaking Dawn on Amazon.com, and it hasn't arrived yet. I'm not too bummed though because I was thinking that I wanted to re-read book 3 to remember the details of what happened. So don't post any spoilers on your blog, okay?
In Ames, we had all utilities included in our rent, and also internet and DirecTV were included in the rent. Now that we have to pay for all of those things, we have opted not to have anything for tv except good old rabbit ears (or bunny ears, as my boys call them). I don't mind, because the only shows I ever watched were on the main channels anyway. However, my kids are bummed because we don't have Noggin. "I want to watch Little Einsteins." "I'm sorry, we don't have Little Einsteins." "Okay, I want to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse then." "Sorry buddy, we don't have that one either." Too bad for them. The nice thing is, now that we have our own house, we aren't watching nearly as much television because I don't have to keep them quiet for a downstairs neighbor. Definitely a plus!

Having a house is great for popping outside for a bit, isn't it? But the utilities are a definite ouch.
We were also opting for the rabbit ears TV thing, until we found out that there is NO reception, not even one channel, in Brigham. Luckily, the cheapest cable plan is only $16 a month. I suppose that's tolerable.
I also pre-ordered Breaking Dawn. When do pre-orders come, anyway?
Anyway, I'm so glad you're already enjoying having your own 4 walls. How nice!
I pre-ordered as well so it didn't ship until Saturday morning. And the rough estimate for delivery was the 9th! Yikes, I hope it doesn't take that long to get here (especially since we're going out of town on Thursday). I might just have to pick up an extra copy at wal-mart if I can't contain myself.
I didn't pre-order it--I have so much to get done before this baby comes that I'm going to TRY and wait until I am sitting around nursing in the middle of the night, but we'll see if that lasts (crazy, I know!).
We have bunny ears--the digital converter box thing works really well though, and we get more stations with it upstairs, but none with it downstairs (I guess it just doesn't get any stations that barely came in before, and that's what happened). PBS is great though!
When we moved we also decided to not have cable. The kids adjusted great. There are times that I wish I had tv when the kids go to bed and I am so tired I don't feel like doing anything else. The internet works great though and you don't have near as many trashy commercials. Glad to hear you are enjoying your house!
