Graduation Day

Friday was Christian's graduation! I am so proud of him. Unfortunately, all of my indoor pictures of him actually being hooded with his Ph.D. look like this
so that's a big fat bummer. If anyone was there who took pictures that actually look like Christian, please forward them to me! But we did take pictures outside afterward. Here are some of my favorites.

With the boys
With meWith the moms
With his best friend JeremyWith his cohort (yes, it's too light. I need a photography class)

Then we had a party afterward. Even though I have been waiting for this day (graduation) for 10 years, this moment at the party was what I have been waiting for our entire married life:
I have tried numerous times to surprise him throughout our marriage, and it has always fallen through. He guesses, or finds out what I'm going to get him. I even threw him a surprise party for his 30th birthday, and all was going well (aka he didn't know about it). I told him I was going home from church early because I didn't feel well, and then I went home and started getting things together for the party. My sister showed up early to help and everything. Then Christian walked in the door, coming home from church early himself to see if I was feeling any better. He saw the banner that said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" and pretty much figured it out. My point is, I have never been able to actually pull off a surprise. And I did this time. I got all three moms in on it too...they each pitched in to purchase him a pontoon boat, which he has been wanting for ages but we could never afford. This look on his face is pure giddiness because he had no idea what was in the huge boxes. And then I got him the electric motor to go on the pontoon boat and here was his face:
I'm so thrilled and relieved that I pulled it off. Congratulations to Christian for all of his hard work! (P.S. I took some pictures of people at the party, and none of them were very good. So you can either be relieved that I am not putting funny/weird pictures up of those who did come, or be sad that you aren't immortalized on my blog.)

Most pictures of me are weird, so thank you for sparing me. The look on Christian's face as he opened his presents was priceless. It was great to see you again. Congrats!

Jeremy told me about how surprised Christian was! How fun is that! Jer thought it was pretty cool, too, of course! I told him when he goes to as much school as Christian, I'll buy one for him, too! (I think I'm pretty safe.) :-)
