Sniff, sniff

Ethan woke up at 6:50 this morning, excited for his first day of kindergarten. I made him sourdough pancakes, his choice for his special day.

He got dressed in his new clothes and posed for pictures.

He wore his backpack around the house for 30 minutes before we needed to go to the bus stop.

We walked up to the bus stop. When we were almost there, I saw the first glimmer of nerves (from him; I was already a bundle of nerves). Once we were at the bus stop, he wiped a couple of tears from his eyes and I told him it was okay to feel scared and that he would have so much fun and learn so much at school.

The bus came, he waved to me, and then he got on the bus.

What he didn't know was that I drove to the school to watch him get off of the bus and make sure he knew where to go. His friends from the ward were among the first to get off, and they waited for him to get off of the bus.

He was the last child off of the bus.

He has such a tenderhearted personality, I'm sure he didn't want to "butt" his way into the aisle to get off of the bus. So he waited patiently until there was a space for him to fit into. Which happened to be at the end of the line. And he was seated about halfway back on the bus. Sweet boy.

Then they all walked to the doors of the school. He seemed hesitant at first, and then about halfway to the doors, I saw him do a little jump/skip.

He'll be fine.

Will I?

Ahhhhh, I can't handle it! What sweet pictures and I'm already crying over them and they are of your son---not mine! I have to do this on Wednesday next week. Someone might have to come and hold my hand.

Darling pictures! He'll do so great in K! Can't wait to hear of his progress!

I seriously feel a little teary eyed too. I'm not looking forward to the first day of school for Sage...

Good luck to you and Ethan!

I've been there, it is so hard. I cried and cried when Sierra started school last year. This year was much easier. It made me laugh that you followed the bus to school! Good for you!

ohh! I feel so bad for you! I don't know that experience yet and I'm sure it will be bittersweet when it comes. Sad and Happy day! :)

How fun. I am sure you could have gone in and seen him and took pictures too. I have known a few mothers to do this too! Glad he made his first day ok. and didn't want to miss anything either

Aw, that's so sweet. How cute about the little jump at the door.
And also, my kids are in that last pic! How funny. I was showing it to them and they said Ethan sat by them on the bus. Ha!
