On Saturday, my husband watched the kids all day while I went to St. George. I went to the temple, and I went shopping. Outlet malls, Costco, Target, the works. It was a lovely, leisurely day, just me and all of the crazies out and about in St. George, and I enjoyed having the entire day to myself.
Oh, is someone out there saying that their husband does that for them all of the time? And doesn't even complain when they spend WAY more than budgeted for?
Oh. Well. Let's try again. How about this: does your husband take an entire week off of work, six of his coveted vacation days, so he can watch the kids while you go to FRANCE???
YAY!! YIPPEE! HALLELUJAH! JUMP FOR JOY! WOO HOO! SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!
Yeah, that's right. I'm going to France in March. And my husband is staying home with the children. It's my birthday/Christmas present, and Christian's Christmas present too (yep, he forfeited his budgeted amount for Christmas this year so we could afford the plane ticket). Now I'll tell you why I'm this lucky.
As you may or may not know, I got my degree in French. I have been to France twice, and before Christian and I got married I told him that I would only agree to marry him if he got me to France three more times. (Don't you wish you would have cut a deal like that?) So, when we lived in Iowa, I had a friend whose husband works for the government and was being reassigned to a post in Paris. I told her I wanted to come and visit her and she said, "Please do." So I have been researching tickets, crying as the prices got higher and higher, and then all of a sudden I found a fantastic deal going nonstop from SLC to Paris and back (no layovers!). I called Christian at work to tell him about it, and he said, "Have you purchased it yet?" I said, "No." He said, "What are you waiting for? Buy it already." So I entered in my credit card number and clicked Purchase.
Hooray! And that's why I have the best husband ever.
P.S. My new favicon is an Eiffel Tower, if you can't tell. And if you don't know what a favicon is, click here.

Yay for good husbands! Yay for France! Yay for favicons! (I wish I could see it!)
HOLY CRAP! I CAN SEE IT!
That's awesome!
Say hi to Staci for me!
Okay, that sounds so fun- and since this is kind of close to Sappy Sunday husband gushings are TOTALLY allowed.
I read the Dr Laura Book on Proper Feeding and caring Of Husbands (there is a post on my blog about it) and it totally made me appreciate my guy so much more..... I know it sounds cheesy, but it is was very eye opening. Plus- best part is, when you spoil your hubby they always spoil you back...
OKAY- man that was long.
SOrry
but Paris sounds so great
HOW AWESOME!! It is my dream to go on a trip to France--oh I am so jealous--I mean happy for you!!
Erin!! How great for you!!! What a great hubby!! I sure hope you have a great time when you go!!
so fun! I am so excited for you~ PS my husband is kinda great, too!
LUCKY! Oh that's so great. Oh, and yes, you were my first follower! Thank you!
I will allow him to share the award with my husband, who let me go to NYC last summer while he stayed home with children. :)
Seriously, though...this is wonderful! I'm so glad you got a good deal on the air fare, what a fun thing to look forward to. And now you have me wishing that I would have cut some sort of deal when I got married. Silly me.
I was in Paris just last month. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it. I told my husband that we needed to sell everything we own, he could find a job and we would move there immediately. He considered it for about 3.5 seconds.
Your husband is the best husband! Other than mine, of course.
YA! What a great thing to look forward too. Great husbands are the best!
Wow that sounds like fun, can't wait to read the posts about it.
So I must be the worlds greatest wife because I'm letting my husband go to China to visit his family for Chinese new year while I stay home and watch the kids. He doesn't know yet, it's his Christmas present.
He sounds like a wonderful husband! It makes me so happy to read about good men in this world. I thought I was the only woman with one!
That is awesome for you and so sweet of your hubby--yea for you guys!!!
Erin, that is so exciting!!! Anyone who knows Christian knows that he is an exceptional person, and therefore an exceptional husband. Congratulations!!!
That's SOOO awesome. Glad you can go. Wish you could take me with you.
He does deserve that award!
I want to go somewhere amazing!
But I don't know where....
Wow, that sounds awesome!
I am so happy for you that you get to go to Paris. You will have so much fun. I guess Christian will go with you next time right?
Liz
What an awesome thing to look forward to! What a sweet husband you have!
when i meet my husband, i'm going to insist on a paris clause!
How fun Erin! I can't imagine getting to go away by myself to another country (no less) for a week! I'm excited for you!
Wow, that rocks the rockiest rock.
I thought my sister's husband was awesome for sending her to her bff's in Cleveland while he took care of the kids for a week. But I think Paris trumps "The Cleve", easily. That is awesome, awesome news! Congrats, and kudos to Christian. NICE!
Ah! Hooray! I'm so so so so excited for you! And I do wish an eensy bit that I could go with you! Although my tongue is numb as far as French goes. It's the saddest thing. What do you do with your French to keep it up? I really want to know! jill.robison@gmail.com
that's super cool. and i'm super jealous. your man is a stud.
btw, you live close to st. george? that's my crib, baby! where are you?
I think Christian is great, but ya this tops the great husband list. Congrats on France. I wish to make it there someday. I'm so excited for you.
Holy cow.... Christian really must win the husband of the year award. A whole day by yourself shopping in St George and then he has to pull out the France card. It would be really hard for a lot of husbands to top that. I am so excited for you that you get to go. Have fun.
Your husband rocks the house! That is freaking awesome.
I can't wait to live vicariously through you!
dude. that IS a great guy. make him some dinner. fill up the freezer with easy food. and who cares if the kids eat ice cream for breakfast?
p.s. i just saw we read lots of the same blogs. SMALL WORLD!
Totally cool! My husband did that for me as well this September and I loved it. Leaving your family for that long seems hard, but it gets less hard the closer it becomes. Trust me... it is well worth leaving the kids behind. You even love them when you come back. /smile
