Sickness

My presence in the blogging world, comment-wise at least, has been spotty at best over the last few days. Since Monday night, one of my boys has had croup...the kind where you debate over whether to take him to the ER or not. Tuesday morning he got a shot of decadron, which helped, but by Wednesday morning he was wheezing and had laryngitis. My other boy, starting Tuesday morning, got some nasty stomach bug/flu that has severely dehydrated him and required me to do a lot of laundry. Of course, being a mom I am really worried about them. My husband and I are also really tired because we have probably only gotten 4 hours of sleep each night, helping each child with their perspective sicknesses. I wish they didn't have to be sick. I hate seeing them this way. But I also think it helps me remember how much I love them; plus, they are much more snuggly when they are sick!

For tomorrow's blog post, I will be asking you a question that will help make my life easier. And I will be gone over the weekend (as long as I don't get sick, knock on wood) for a shopping excursion with three other girls. Have I mentioned lately how thankful I am for my husband? He will be with the kids all weekend so I can go blow money up north. Yay!

It is weird how sometimes staying up all night just makes you love those little ones a bit more.... (big ones, too)

but let's talk about SHOPPING! I so love it right now..the lights, the music, cinnamon smells everywhere....and with girls! Have fun....I wish I was doing that all weekend.

I hate it when my kids are sick! Sorry! You should be worried--especially the dehydration. My little guy was in the emergency room twice when he was a toddler because of it. He is a stubborn kid and he refused to even drink water when he was sick with the stomach flu. He had to be rehydrated on an IV Not fun!

Oh man! There sure is some crap going around, we've had it all in our house, too. I hope your boys get better soon!

Sounds like you have a very exciting weekend planned! I'm jealous!

I"m sorry they have been sick! I don't really know what croup is, but it doesn't sound good.

I had to get a TB shot for work, at the health department, and they have this poster of all these horrible illnesses on the wall. I am very grateful for modern medicine.

Yuck! My kids have been sick recently too, with the stomach thing that's going around.

Your kids are lucky to have you around in their time of infirmity. :)

I feel your pain. We have a double ear infection over here in Crazyland.

Step away from the computer and go take a nap. We will all still love you tomorrow!!

That's just no fun. The shopping, however, sounds awesome. Just how far north do you plan on coming?

I am so sorry, Erin. When kids are sick, especially REALLY sick, it can seem like it's going to last forever. Hope your forever ends real soon!

So sorry about the bugs flying through your family. have you tried lobelia for croup? A life saver, literally. Saved us from many trips to the ER for breathing treatments.

If your really making it up north, you should check out Queen Kristina's meet and greet!

i love how you appreciate your husband. that's really overlooked often these days (at least in my opinion...).

i love to blow some money. LOVE it. and i hate having sick kids. i'd rather be sick myself.

I agree with Jess. I'd rather be sick myself!! It's no fun dealing with sick kids, especially when your worried about if they are getting enough oxygen or puking all over the place. Eeesh.

I hope you have fun shopping. There is no better therapy in my opinion. haha.

I had that exact same week. Seriously, are you my long lost twin? My 7 year old daughter had croup this week, and a 1 a.m. on Wednesday I VERY seriously considered taking her to the ER. She was fighting for EVERY breath. Scary. We finally got a steroid shot, and she's no longer darth vader, but still barks.
p.s. you can add me to your side bar, too if you like!!! (I'm following you now, too.)
