Things I Learned in France and Giveaway Results

  • I gained one pound while in France. It was worth every. single. calorie.
  • I listened to the following three songs at least 30 times during the week: Gavin DeGraw's I'm In Love With a Girl; Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You; Britney Spears' Circus. From now on, for the rest of my life, every time I hear any of these three songs I will be reminded of my trip to Paris. (I still think of Hawaii when I hear John Mayer's Daughters and Shakira's Hips Don't Lie)
  • I really can get around the Metro by myself. I have been terrified of it ever since I was 17 and couldn't figure it out, but I think I have it figured out!
  • French people are kind, and they are absolutely willing to help you out if you attempt to speak their language and are kind to them - and looking a bit pitiful doesn't hurt either
  • My knowledge of the language has completely gone downhill since I graduated with a French degree 11 years ago
  • I can still get around, and people can understand me, and I can understand them too
  • When I spend a week in France, I come home and think in French
  • I can feel the Spirit, even in a foreign language
  • I really, really missed my family. Like, "crying at 1:30 in the morning because I miss them" miss them.
  • To quote an e-mail from my friend Staci: "Rob commented that you were just about a perfect guest - no bother, no stress added. I quickly agreed. You seriously were a no-stress guest. Thanks for making it so nice to have you here." Does that tempt anyone to have me over to their house??

Okay, now it's time to announce the giveaway winners. Yippee!

Congratulations to the winners! Email me your addresses at eringirl13 at gmail dot com, and here's hoping the weather stays cool enough that your chocolate doesn't melt en route!

You can come to my house! I know it's not as exotic, but we could watch the Survivor finale together.

Ah nuts! (I once asked my ballet teacher if she thought in French--she did--but of course, she was French.)

Glad you're back, glad you loved it, glad you're home with your crew so there won't be anymore 1:30am crying jags!

Only one pound? I'd say you did great! That chocolate shop you showed us would have been good for that one pound alone for me!

Blessings!

Congrats to all of the winners. It sounds like you had such a great time in France. I knew you would do great and that extra pound I agree is worth every bit of it.

I'm positive I would have gained much more than a pound! Maybe all those delicious French calories were offset by all the walking around the city.

It's nice to have you home!

Some times it's worth it to get away from your family just to realize how much you want to be with them. And sometimes it's just worth it to get away.
