I Am Embarrassed That I Am Admitting This

How many push-ups can you do at one time?

For me:

regular push-ups - 1/2 (I can get down, but I can't push back up)
"girl" push-ups - I just got down on the floor just now to actually find out. I did nine before I collapsed. And I can guarantee that tomorrow my arms will be paying for it.

But hey, I did 50 jackknives (sit-ups where you form a V with your body) on the Wii Fit yesterday. So my arms may be made of jello, but my stomach...well, it's still flabby. But I'm working on it.

Way to go Erin :)

I can do about 20 girl style push-ups. I've never tried to do a manly one. I'm going to try. I'll be right back....Okay, let's say 3. This is only because I have been working my arms every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks. If I would have tried before, I wouldn't have budged even an inch.

The jackknife sit-ups sound like a killer. I'm going to try those today.

You're still way ahead of me, sister!

A sure sign your kids are past toddlerhood. I think I can do maybe 20 or 30 girl ones, but don't even try the boy variety. As soon as I stop carrying any kids I'll be down to nine and soreness the next day too, I'm sure!

People still do push ups. Hee hee. That is great Erin. You go Wii girl.

You are 10 push ups ahead of me. I have no idea how many I would be able to do. My best guess...regular push-ups? ZERO. Girl? I refuse to drop to my cubicle floor to find out. Maybe later! ;)

my wii fit know way too many secrets about me. i'm pretty sure it's going to start blackmailing me any day now....

I can actually do 4 man push-ups. I just tried. But I too will be paying for it but I think sooner than later!!

My male coworker told me that he had the school record for dips in high school. I told him I did too. For doing zero.

I can probably do none.

Jillybean said...

I bet I could do less than Kristina!

I have the worst arm strength, I don't even want to try to find out how many I can do because I know it will be embarassing.

you're awesome! lol

Two words: Me. Too.

At least you're working on it. Maybe one day you'll even get to 3/4 a push-up!

rofl... I just tried last week and I could do a few man ones.. but you go girl with your six pack!

My husband got a pull up bar for his birthday. I cannot do one single pull up. It is impossible. And then he asks me to do it in front of him. Because that is exactly what I want: to hang lifelessly on the pull up bar and be embarrassed out of my mind.

Do you feel better? :)

Lee said...

If it makes you feel any better, I can't even do half of a pushup, and I can only do one girl pushup.

So I'm guessing you don't do the push ups and side planks too often? I love those! When I was doing Yoga on a regular basis I could hold a side plank for nearly 2 minutes. Too bad my arms still look scrawny. But good job on the jack knifes!

I'm fairly certain that push-ups are of the devil. I would stay far away from them if I were you.

I've been working on my running, and pretty good at push-ups (the girl kind) but I can't play volleyball, softball, tennis, racquetball, bowl, or swim to save my life!

I think you should do a post now on all the things you ARE good at! I think it would be much much longer than this one was!
:~D

20 jackknives? Jackknives are hard. Good for you. As for me? Well, I lug around and wrestle with a 35 pound 3-year-old who refuses to cooperate most times. My arms are strong and HUGE (this is NOT a good thing). I can do more pushups than my hubby.

Kate said...

I can't do push ups either. They are hard. I have never tried jack knives.

You are way ahead of me! I cannot even get down on the floor without having someone help me back up!LOL

I really have no excuses for not being able to sit-ups, except my tailbone hurts like a "mother" after wards. My stomach workout is digging, doesn't that do something for you abs???

Stephanie said...

Oh gosh, I have ZERO arm strength. Unfortunately, I can't really do situps either. *Sob.*

Melanie Jacobson said...

I can do zero regular pushups and 20 girl ones. I don't know what that means.

Anne-Marie said...

I did 20 girl style yesterday and that was enough.

I'm working on the plank position for my abs. Those suck.

I can do 2 manly ones, and 20 girlie ones. 2 years ago, I could do 10 manly ones and 40 girlie ones, but I let myself go and now I pay for it.

rachel said...

I've never heard of a jackknife...but it sounds painful! Way to go :) I have to do girl push ups too and I think I could do 10 and then cry...

Britt said...

Thanks for asking, this doesn't come up in conversations very often. I was in a push-up craze for a while. I would do lots of push-ups during commercials on TV. I can do about 30 regular pushups without resting and way more girl push ups. Amazing I know.

I plead the fifth.

My arms are TOUGH. I can do anything with my arms, even lifting my own post-pregnancy body (over and over).

But don't ask me to go running, mkay?

Hey thanks for voting for us on blogluxe- and for telling us we were nominated! We'll totally beg for votes now, lol..

And push-ups? I have been doing a boot camp, so I actually can do over 20 (uh, so like 21, haha)

my arms and my stomache are made of Jell-o... yowsers, I need to stop this endless cycle of weight fluctuating.

tiburon said...

I can do about 150 - in sets of 25.

Hmmmm... I was going to do push-ups to see how many I can do, but I don't want to get sweaty. However, I really should do them, because I set a goal (part of my 101 things in 1001 days list) to be able to do 30 military-style push-ups without stopping. After reading this, I think I might just be crazy to try and do that many!!

I am like you....girl push ups about 10 but my abs are strong. Must be those babies we had inside of us and all the muscles it took from out lovely abs:)
