School starts in less than two weeks. Ethan starts first grade, which means he will be gone from around 8:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. I'm not quite sure how to feel about this! Isn't he still my baby boy??

I wrote a guest post for my blog/real life friend Lara who is moving across the country next week. The post is about tarantulas, and how we became friends. Click here to read.

I decided this week to play along with Motherboard's game of listing 10 random tunes from my iPod. I have found some great new music from other people who play along.

4. The Man Who Can't Be Moved - The Script
5. Losing My Mind - Maroon 5
6. Lucky (featuring Colbie Caillat) - Jason Mraz
7. My Life Would Suck Without You - Kelly Clarkson
8. Stop This Train - John Mayer
9. Blackbird - Sarah McLachlan
10. Banjo Boy - Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband

Ooo...I'm going to have to look up some of those songs...
That was a fun post over at Lara's (one more reason for me to NOT live in Cedar . . .).
And I agree--the right person won last night!
i LOVE at least half the songs on your list!
and if it makes you feel any better, i'm feeling REALLY old now. this is the first year in 13 years that i won't be buying school supplies for my daughter. and my BABY is starting high school... sigh...
Hi Erin
Loved your guest blog - I'm off to meet one of my readers and virtual friends tomorrow for the first time! A big step to take!
Heather
Lucky you! That will be a great night.
My oldest starts kindergarten in four days! I don't know how I feel about that :)
I notice a few of those songs and dig them, so I can't wait to look up the rest.
I'm having issues with my oldest starting K. Like: I've even thought about homeschooling, and I've been known for my (generally) anti-homeschooling stance. But, back to you... - that's a long time for a little 6 year old to be gone!
I saw the tour last year and it was AWESOME. Well worth it.
I liked your tarantulas post.
Girl, we have the SAME taste! I love ALL those songs!!!!
I can't wait until school starts. Maybe then I'll stop being cooped up here.
I like your taste in music. :)
I totally know how you feel about first grade.
School all day is the BEST EVER!!
I love your taste in music...It seems like I'm always on the hunt for new music. Have you heard Mat Kearney's new album...it's great!
Hi Erin. I hope you don't mind me taking a peek at your blog. I am also a friend of Lara Neves and saw your guest post on her blog and it linked me to yours. I love your blog! I lived in Cedar City for a little while and you look very familiar. Were you in my ward? Thanks for your post on Lara's blog.
Our school started August 3rd. We get several full weeks off during the year and summer vacation is only about two months. Not fun to start early but nice to get those extra breaks. Love you ipod list, need some new music on mine. My Granddaughter made a cd for me for Christmas which has a variety of songs... love it and it is what I listen to all the time. I will write down the songs and list it for others to see. Have a blessed day!
I'm so glad the winner won, too. I really didn't think that was going to happen, and I'm so glad it did! I'm also VERY excited for the fall season of SYTYCD and Glee!
And I love your music. A lot.
Ooh, I want to come to the SYTYCD concert with you!
Great playlist,too, by the way!
I LOVED So You think You Can Dance this year....but for me, my favorite girl came in 4th. (sad) however I will say, I would have been happy with anyone in the finale- excpet Evan. Let's be honest.....
I meant to comment on this post yesterday, but then Google started having it's problems! I would love to see SYTYCD. I need to look into tickets.
My Life Would Suck Without You - that's really a song title?? Apparently I'm missing out on the good stuff by sticking to my country station...
I can't believe Ethan is starting 1st grade! We sat behind you guys our first Sunday in the ward 4 years ago. Time just keeps rolling along quickly, doesn't it?
I want to go! I love that show!
Great play list!
Oooo I am happy with the SYTYCD result too! I recorded the addiction song for my Musical Monday too. :)
I liked your Tarantula post, btw. Nice job subbing for Lara.
And I will have to check out some of these songs.
Random comments as a lame copout for several of your posts:
Just got back in town and first thing I did after putting the kids in bed was watching the 2-part SYTYCD finale on DVR. Yay, so fun. There was some great dances, and I was so excited for the winner.
So glad you had a fun San Diego trip. Sounds a little more cushy than my camping trip. :)
You and I have the same dream: eating out every meal. I LOVE restaurants and always secretly dream of being one of those newspaper columnists that writes about family-friendly restaurants and gets to eat out for free all the time. Sigh.
