My family spent Labor Day weekend in Moab, Utah. We had a fantastic time! Christian's mom and stepdad live in Moab, which is world famous for
mountain biking,
Arches National Park,
Canyonlands National Park, and many other landmarks. And I have never been to any of them before this trip! I'm a bit of a dud when it comes to outdoor things, I must admit, but I had a great time.
Things we did:
- went rock hunting in a wash and found fantastic pieces of agate
- went digging (drove up some crazy inclines and rocky mountains) in our SUV
- climbed around a little in an old mine
- saw bear tracks while walking around Oowah Lake in the La Sal Mountains
- played with Duke, a great dane who's as big as a
house horse

- saw the elephant at Arches National Park

- saw the double arch

- took lots of pictures in the double arch (that's Christian's brother Abe inside of the arch. No, I don't know what he's doing) (yes, I'm wearing a cowboy hat, for the first time in my life. Christian's mom gave it to me.)

- went to
Dead Horse State Park (cute moment - when Ethan asked, "Is there a real dead horse there?"

- went to a rock shop, where the boys were in heaven and Christian bought me a huge chunk of rose quartz, my favorite rock, as an early anniversary present
- went to one of my favorite shops EVER

Wild Rose's Imports is like a home decorating store. I don't usually care about stuff like that, but she has really cool stuff that I love salivating over. I bought a couple of fridge magnets from her to give away on my blog, just for fun.

To win these two magnets, just leave a comment on this post. I'll pick a winner and announce it on Friday's post. These were my two favorites!
-went fossil hunting
-ate almost an entire Costco-sized container of chocolate covered raisins single-handedly
-read most of Harry Potter #4
-drove home (cute Aidan moment: when he said, "Next stop? Home sweet home.")
What a great vacation. Next stop? Mount Laundry.

I've never been to Moab or Arches National Park. Yes, I do need to get out and explore my own state a little bit more.
I love the magnets. They suit me perfectly.
Sounds like a fun family get together. I like the photos :) I wrote about my family labor day too. But I got in troubke for writing mine...opps!
What fun for you! And you look adorable in a cowboy hat! I am going to have to go to Moab at some point (sad to say, I have never been there though I have lived in UT my whole life) and I so want to see that store. It looks like it is full of wonderful finds.
Wow- What a fun blog you have! I just happened to run across you on MMB. I love your "links" to help have a cool blog. Good stuff!
gotta love vintage! Glad you had a fun weekend.
The pictures are fantastic!! My son asked me to read the entire Harry Potter series so I would quit asking him questions about the movies:) I finished them and have to say they were pretty darn good.
What a great weekend - glad you got a nice getaway!
I haven't been to Moab in years! I would love to go when the weather here gets cooler.
Looks like a great trip!
I LOVE the picture of you with your boys! They are so big! You look great. I love the hat on you. Good job, Christian's mom!
I like both magnets but the second one is my fave!

You guys do so much stuff and go on so many cool day trips. We need to take a page out of your book!
Cute magnets!
Okay, next time we're in Utah, I seriously want to go rock hunting with you!! My girls would love that. Heck, I would love that! (Don't you wish sometimes that the word I wasn't already capitalized? It makes it hard to emphasis!)
It's great you had a good trip!
The worst part about doing ANYTHING is laundry follows you!
The magnets are cute. I love it when a comment will do for a giveaway. I hate jumping through hoops! That's why i stopped entering any.
Have you tried the Costco chocolate covered pomegranates? yummy, Yes I can eat the whole bag but I shouldn't.
Sounds like a lot of fun. :) Your picture with the boys is so cute.
I love those magnets! I'm barely surviving today...
I'm almost outdoorsy but not quite like my hubby is. Looks like a fun trip, and pretty crazy to do in the hottest of hot times for down there. :) Hey I have that book for you, can you tell me where you'd like me to send it off? I'm so excited.
Love that exercise magnet. Cute!
Cute magnets. What a fun trip. I like your hat:).
we went to moab for christmas one year. it wasn't hot, but it was WINDY!
I am a Utahan and am totally embarrassed to admit that I've never been to any of those places, including Moab. Sad.
Those magnets are awesome! This is one giveaway I will be sad about not winning. :)
What a fun weekend! And I think you look cute the hat! Eric and I always used to make lots of jokes about Dead Horse Point when we would drive by the entrance on our trips from Durango to Salt Lake. "Yep, I rode my horse out there and it died".. those sort of things.
I would love to win by the way! That exercise one is AWESOME!
Any chance you're giving away an entire box of Costco sized chocolate-covered raisens as well? Love those!
Looks/sounds like a fun vacation. I'm terrified of digging-but I think I could handle the rest:)
Looks like you had a great time. I've never been to Moab or Arches. Someday, maybe.
Those magnets are super awesome!
That one arch really does look like an elephant. Very cool. Love the magnets. It looks like you guys had a good time.
OH I so can relate to both magnets! Hilarious! What BEAUTIFUL pictures! I've only been to Utah 2x, maybe the next trip!!!
(who am I kidding? I'll just look at your pictures. Sounds like too much walking)
What a great weekend! I think that is the worst thing about coming home from a vacation--all the laundry that has to be done! I always feel like I just washed it all so we could pack it in the first place :)
What great views! I've lived in this state all my life and have yet to see all the wonders! It sounds like you truly did have a GREAT weekend!
P.S. Love the hat! Very chic!
That looks so fun! It's been years since I have been to Arches, and we even have one named after my Great Grandfather. Next summer for sure!
Looks like it was a fun trip! And i hear what you are saying about both the chocolate covered raisins and Mt Laundry!
:~D
Looks like you had fun. Cute magnets. Good luck getting the laundry done!
I love those magnets. I have one that has a one of those ladies on it and she has a huge smile on her face. Underneath it says !*&#@ I love those.
Looks like you all had a great time!
I love Moab. We have so many family memories there. You'll never get that red sand out of your car. No matter how many times you vacuum it.
I miss the desert sometimes.
Oooo! I WANT those magnets - they are so me! Glad you had such a fab holiday. Good luck getting settled back in!
Such a cute photo of you! I LOVE the double arch! It is my favorite spot down there. So majestic! Glad you had fun. :)
Those are some good photos of the arches and elephant. Also, you look good in the cowboy hat - I wouldn't have ever thought it was your first time wearing one. Your little guys are full of cute little quips! How nice of you to give away those hilarious magnets. I think everyone can relate...
Glad you were able to have a nice family outting. I remember your rock collection from a previous post, that new "rock" you bought will be gorgeous amongst them.
My MIL lives in st. george, and boy, that is hotter than Hades!
Rosey
Moab is so gorgeous! What a fun little trip! Mount laundry is such a post-trip downer.
OH HOW I MISS SOUTHERN UTAH'S NATIONAL PARKS!! I think Utah has the most in the country. SO awesome! Sounds like the perfect holiday to me!
How fun Erin!! We love Moab!! We drive through and stop everytime we go to see Brandon's family in Mexico!! Looks like you guys had a great time and I love the cowboy hat~you look great in it!!
This is the second post I've read today that has a pic of those magnets. Weird. I have one that I love "My husband says he'll leave me if I don't stop shopping. I'll miss that man!" Another fave is "We can't both look good -- it's either me, or the house."
Love the cowboy hat, by the way.
With that hat, you look like an outdoor pro! Good luck on your next extreme adventure of Mount Laundry.
It's been years, but Moab is a blast. And yes, it just may be the hottest place on earth. . .
I've never been to Moab, but it sure looks pretty. What a fun trip!
I. Love. Moab. Arches is one of my favorite places on earth (but in October or April, not summer). :)
Cute hat!
I LOVE the chocolate magnet! So funny.
You know, I grew up going to Zion Nat'l Park every year, and I've never even been to Moab. What a weirdo. I really need to make a trip down there. It looks cool (hot).
Yeehaw! Sounds like a rockin good ole time! What fun pictures. I've never been there, although I did love river rafting in Moab. Did you collect any good fossils?
Ohhhhhhhhh! I love Moab too. My hubby is there today for work and I AM HERE!!!!!! WAHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Love the magnets, I should totally have the chocolate one!
Sounds like you had a great time. Great pictures. Was it real hot or not too bad? Have a great week. Cute magnets.
Sounds like a terrific weekend! The places you visited make me homesick! That is home sweet home to me.
