For Just One Week Update

Well, I didn't clean my oven. I will eventually, probably with lemon juice and baking soda like my friend Jessie suggested. Or I might actually look at the oven dials next time I make something and see if it has a self-cleaning mode (it probably does, and I've just never taken the time to notice). Instead, I did what Sherrie suggested - I cleaned out my fridge and freezer. It's clean! You could lick the bottom of the vegetable drawer now and not get sick!

I'm excited for this week's goal. I am going to write in my journal every day this week. Like, pen and paper write in my journal. I was REALLY good about writing nearly every day, from age 11 until I got married. Then I started getting lazy and forgetting. I just looked at the last time I wrote, and sadly it was April 14, 2008. That's almost two years, people. That's pathetic. So I am going to catch up on the last two years in the next week. (Hee hee; good luck to me.) I love the idea of having something tangible for my children to read and know about me after I am gone. I feel bad that I haven't written since I moved halfway across the country. Ethan wasn't in school last time I wrote. Aidan wasn't potty trained. I want this baby to know that she was wanted. I need to write about the evolution of myself, my marriage, my spirituality, my life.

So that's what I'm doing this week. Is there anything you want to do For Just One Week?

I would love to exercise everyday. I'm really bad about doing it on the weekends.

And also sit outside The Hoff's house for one week.

For Just One Week I will...fold my laundry as soon as it's dry instead of letting it sit forever.

You should definitely keep it up. My wife's mother passed a few years ago and she kept a journal from about the same age as you started through her passing at age 83. My wife has been going through them periodically and finds what her mom wrote fascinating— especially those times that she remembers as well.

I too have been very bad about writing in a journal. I always mean too, but put it off way too easily. Good luck with this one. It's a great goal!

I think, for this week, I'm going to try to go to sleep at a decent hour. Or, at least before 12:30 a.m.

My sister just posted a couple of times about her love of journal-keeping. AND as a bonus... she posted some excerpts from the journal she kept when she was 10 years old. Super funny.

her blog is amykaniggit.blogspot.com

Maybe it will inspire you. :)

Good for you. I realized yesterday that I totally need to clean out my freezer. I opened it to get more ice, and with about 80 people standing in my kitchen, I wanted to slam it shut and make them drink warm water.....

I will not lie on my couch at night and do nothing. (Yet that's what I'm doing right now.)

I have a weeks vacation coming up. Not going anywhere. Just needed to take it or lose it kind of thing.

But, on that week, I plan to purge my home of all the ridiculously unnecessary things I've been holding on to :)

Sigh. It'll be good :)

Good for you Erin.

I type my journal. I developed carpal tunnel in my first pregnancy & still can't write much past sticky notes & lists without excessive pain.

So, journaling with a pen/paper is a thing of the past.

I go through phases too with my journal writing.

The thing that has been the best at keeping me consistent, ldsjournal.com

They will even send you reminders if you don't write as often as you want too. And you can get it all printed for a great price.

For just one week I will make a list of things I need to get done each day. I MIGHT even DO them!

So, I just cleaned my oven this week, thanks to you.

Only, I figured out it was self-cleaning and it was a total breeze. :)

Good going with the fridge though. That's another thing I ignore a lot, and I'm pretty sure mine's not self-cleaning. :(

Good luck writing in your journal! Maybe you'll get back into the habit!

My blog is my journal. And like you, I've had a diary/journal ever since I was a very young girl.

Congratulations, Erin!! I just read about you having a little girl. I used to write in my journal all the time too. Kudos to you for starting up again :)

Hearing that you cleaned out your fridge reminded me that it is time to clean mine out too.

How fun. I want to floss my teeth every night for just one week.

This is the last week until my hubby is home for good (he's been working out of town for the last 6 months) so this it's survive for me. After that I'm actually going to be normal again and can plan, prepare, act, finish, do, just like normal people everywhere. (Not that I can't function without him here, it's just been a really long few months and the kids and are I are all anxious for him to be home.)

This is one of those "survival" weeks for us, but I'll definitely do a FJ1W post again next week.

I love writing in my journal! It's like therapy!

Erin, you make me feel so pathetic!!! Well, in a good way. I really want to do all your for just one weeks, but as you know, a girl can only do so much!
For just this week, I am going to clean my house out of humanitarian service projects (which means I have to do them first in order to give them away)
