Still Hangin' On

For those of you who are wondering - I'm still pregnant. The last few nights have become increasingly uncomfortable to sleep at all. I'm pretty sure having the baby will be a relief because then at least I will get a couple hours of sleep in between nursings. Two nights ago I got up to go to the bathroom eight times. That is unheard of for me. My body is so foreign and unfamiliar to me right now.

I found out recently that my midwife will be out of town the entire last week of my pregnancy. That was disheartening. But she is going to strip my membranes this Friday, so I may have a baby this weekend. (I was told at some point that 60% of women go into labor within 24 hours of having their membranes stripped. It worked for me with both boys, so I'm hoping it works with this one too.) Actually, I really hope it works because I am still planning on delivering without an epidural. I'm scared, but I am also looking forward to facing my fears. And I want my midwife there to help me. Think positive thoughts for me!

Oh, and we still don't have a name picked out. I can't believe how difficult this is for us!38 weeks, artistically fuzzy taken by Aidan

(Sorry, as I read this over I realize I can't wax poetical, or even interesting, when I'm big and tired. I may get back to my usual self one day. One day far, far away.)

I felt the same way -- those last few weeks every phone call or blog post started with "Yes, I'm still pregnant."

Good luck! I hope she comes when you want her to, and has a name tag. :o)

You look great! I hate it at the end when you aren't sleeping and you just. want. to. be. done. I hope all goes well!

Soooooon! I feel your pain with the discomfort. I guess we all do, but my last one was reeeeally bad. Soooooon! My short term wish for you is that you only have to use the bathroom 3 times tonight (because I know that less than that would probably require a miracle. . .)

Hang in there!!

I will definitely be checking in later this weekend (or sometime next week) then to find out if the membrane stripping worked. How exciting!

Cute belly!!

I agree with you about hypnobirthing- using the things that make sense. I can handle the "dissociating" thing. From what I understand, it's like what I do when I read a really good book and stop paying attention to everything around me. I'm good at that!

Good luck to you, I really hope stripping the membranes works so your midwife can be there!!

You look awesome Erin.
I totally agree that the night time bathroom runs are really getting old.

I'm totally convinced you will be posting a birth announcement before me.

Oh, honey. I feel for ya! Amen to better sleep once you're not pregnant anymore. If you show up at church on Sunday, I will be so disappointed! Let's have that baby on Friday!!

Good Luck! I am sure she will be making her appearance really soon! Can't wait to hear what you named her...I think it is always easier to name a baby once you have seen them.

I was wondering if you'd had the baby yet! I hope that stripping your membranes works again. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! It did not work for me and I had it done twice. But it was my first child and this is your third and since you're already showing the signs and contracting, etc, I think she will come quickly and easily! Happy birthing!

I'm so like you. That last little bit of pregnancy is so miserable. People always say to me, "just wait until the baby comes, then you really won't get any sleep." That is never true. I sleep SOOOO much better after the baby comes.

Wow....I can't believe how fast your pregnancy went by(for me). Crossing my fingers and toes that your midwife will be around when you have that baby!

I have had four children and still cringe at the term "strip my membranes". Ew.

Good luck this weekend! Can't wait for the news!
