The Tooth Fairy, Etc.

Two days ago, Christian asked Ethan to get the bag of foam golf balls off of our bedroom dresser. When he came back into the living room, I was nursing Kaitlyn, and Christian and Aidan were outside. Ethan said, "Mom, there are two teeth on top of the dresser."

Ethan just turned seven. He has lost exactly two baby teeth.

I nonchalantly said, "Oh."

Then he got a determined look on his face and said, "The kids at school say the tooth fairy always leaves notes for them."

I said, "The tooth fairy is different for everyone, isn't she?"

And he went outside.

30 minutes later, Christian came in and said, "Well, Ethan figured out that the tooth fairy isn't real. I told him she would keep coming if he wanted to pretend. And I told him to keep the magic alive for Aidan."

*Note to the tooth fairy: Hide the teeth better next time!!

I tried on a pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans a few days ago. Hahahahahahahaha. That was ridiculous. But my maternity pants keep falling off my not-quite-big-anymore stomach. So this morning I was looking through my pre-pregnancy clothing, and I found a pair of capris I didn't remember owning. I tried them on, and while they are still too small, I reverted back to looping a rubberband through the button hole. Worked like a charm. I might start actually feeling like a normal person again before too long!

I love Glee. I mean, I LOVE Glee. I cried during the finale on Tuesday night. I never cry during tv shows (I'm kind of like Chandler on Friends in this aspect - I'm dead inside). The first season on DVD is definitely at the top of my Christmas wish list. For those who missed it the first time around, they are starting the season over tonight on FOX at 7:00.

When my mom was here last week, we were shopping at Wal-Mart. I said, "Okay, now we need diapers." Then Aidan said, "Here are diapers Mom!" I turned to look, and he was pointing at the maxi-pads. Those aren't quite the diapers I had in mind, cutie pie.

Which reminds me, when Kaitlyn was two weeks and one day old, I realized that we had gone through four packages of size newborn diapers. Each package costs $10.50. So, let's do the math: every two weeks = $42.00 in diapers. Yikes. I'm going to have to take on a couple more piano students just to pay for diapers.

Before I even read this I have to say don't get mad at me when I post about the tooth fairy in a few days! I have the post and title already in my mind, so I don't want you to think I stole the idea from you. ;) Now I'll read your post and comment on it.

Am I the only mom that callously throws away teeth? I can't even stand to look at them...I can do poop and blood and vomit, but not teeth. Weird, huh?

Bria knows about the tooth fairy, but Chloe is SO full of faith about all of this stuff. I am afraid her whole world will fall apart when she learns the truth.

And diaper expenses: Ugh.

Oh Glee. I'm not loving it like I wanted to. I'm still crazy about the music, and I sti there and think how much I'd LOVE to sing like Rachel Berry...but the stories just don't do a lot for me anymore.

Good luck with getting more students!!

I will say that I *like* Glee. But it's one of those shows that sits in my DVR until I have nothing better to watch.

I have to say that I giggled out loud when you compared yourself to Chandler being dead inside. Friends is my favorite show and I am so happy that you referenced it... On another note, I know that a lot of people are going to think I am a looney but I have been looking into cloth diapers. I have a friend that uses them and the covers are just so cute! Plus it will save us a ton of money and I will feel better about not contributing to the landfill as much because well, seeing your baby makes me want another one. (probably another reason people will think I am a looney but I don't care)

There's a cute book at Seagull Book that I almost bought the other day, called "Dad, Are You the Tooth Fairy?" It's by Jason Alexander. It's a really cute story - it basically lets kids believe if they want to, but doesn't lie about Dad being the one to put the money/note under the pillow. A good compromise.

And yeah, SO not looking forward to diaper days again! :S

I'm starting to remember how very expensive diapers are, too. Holy frioles.

I really really love Glee, too. I wish I had a DVR to record all the episodes this summer. I didn't cry during the finale, but I still loved it. (I did cry watching charlotte's web the other day. I blame hormones.)

The first full episode I saw of Glee was a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was so funny. Thanks for mentioning the reruns over the summer--I can catch up. :)

Oh!! And nothing official yet, but my parents just put in an offer on a condo in Washington. So one of these days I'll be heading down for a weekend in St. George (if all goes well). Maybe we could do lunch or something!

Glee- I totally cried, too. I was wowed by the Journey medley. There are times when I feel a little guilty watching it... you'd probably understand. But I kind of can't help loving it.

I remember finding teeth on my parents' dresser when I was young. Why do you hang on to them?

You crack me up. Congrats on finding the capris and making them work. Normal feeling things like that make a big difference in the journey towards actually being normal(ish) again.

I'm wondering if Caleb has caught on about the tooth fairy...he keeps asking questions. And I know you aren't into couponing but that is one thing that has saved me tons on diapers. Right now on coupons.com there are 3.00 off Huggies. If you want details I can tell you more (email me)...you don't have to coupon all or nothing...just do diapers! And the pooping does slow down eventually!

I've been so busy, I haven't had much time to read blogs--so I just did a quick cstch-up of your last several posts.

Busy woman! (And suddenly I'm glad that I'm out of the diaper years . . . although my teenage son is probably eating the same amount of food as the newborn diapers cost . . .)

(I loved the Glee finale too.)

Diapers, ugh. I feel your pain.

Newborn diapers are dumb. We went straight to size 1. Of course, my kid is also 8 lbs.

I'm really glad the season finale of Glee didn't suck. It seems like these shows like to go from "Oh I'm totally placing this baby for adoption" to "Awww, baby! I'm keeping it." That would have ruined it for me.

I love GLEE too, and I cried too. But I cry so easily that I kind of throw those stats!

I kept the first few teeth, then Kanoa lost a big back tooth & it looked so disgusting...now they all get chucked.

I just ran out of newborn diapers too. But, I asked for several packs of diapers from the hospital & they obliged. Such a mooch.

Our tooth fairy is incredibly forgetful. Sometimes it takes her a week or more to come get the poor kid's tooth!

Ugh, I haven't calculated diaper costs yet.. scary.

And yeah I am doing the button trick with my regular pants too.. or the walking around the house with my fly down trick since we aren't going anywhere right now anyway.

I've actually never watched Glee....now that the reruns are starting, I just might have to.
