If you enjoy documentaries at all, PBS has a four part series called America in Primetime that is absolutely fascinating. (Two episodes have already aired; the other two will be the next two Sundays at 7:00 PM MST on PBS. They also have the first two episodes on the PBS app, which I loooove.) The show discusses how characters have developed from the beginning of television with Father Knows Best and the Mary Tyler Moore show (which broke boundaries in its time), all the way to today's shows. I sit riveted the entire hour.
This time change thing is driving me bonkers. My kids aren't going to bed any earlier, but the boys are waking up at 6:15, closing their door (they think quietly, but really, it wakes us up), and playing "quietly," but gradually getting louder and louder until everyone in the house is awake at 7:00. Ethan keeps saying, "But Moooom, it's 7:15 regular time." I say, "No, it's 6:15. We need our sleep." Who thought Daylight Savings Time was a good idea?
My family is spoiling me for Birthday Weekapalooza. They have been giving me little gifts every day. Which, of course, is the most important stuff: Mint Oreos, a big bag of Kit Kats, Symphony bar, Red Velvet Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Sobe drinks. Today I'm hitting Costa Vida for lunch. Woo hoo for feeling special!
I never used to be this way, you know. When we got married, Christian talked about how important Birthday Week was, and I totally didn't get it. Now I realize - your birthday only comes around once a year, and it is an opportunity to feel really special. So now I take advantage!
That's all I can think of for today's post. Stay tuned tomorrow for yet another boring post!
(If I feel like posting, that is. But hey, it's my birthday week. I can do what I want.)

I may need to rethink this whole kids thing. More people to give me presents!
It sounds like I need to adopt the week long birthday extravaganza! Somehow I feel gyped!
I hate daylight savings and do NOT understand why time can't just stay the same all year. My kids did great with this one, but the Spring one is rough and should never happen. That's my thought on the matter!
Incidentally, we're up by 6:30 or 7 every dang day of the week. These children do not take after their mother in that respect. I was always a sleeper-inner.
I love documentaries and biographies. I find myself riveted to American Masters sometimes. I should check out the Primetime one, as a TV lover and all. Cool!
i love documentaries! and Red Velvet cake icecream :)
I love that your family is treating you well for your birthday week!
And I love the new blog design!
Happy Birthday week! I'm glad to hear that your family is spoiling you.
Amen about daylight savings time! Blech!!
I saw the episode of America in Primetime about fathers and loved it.
Sorry to brag, but I never feel the effects of time changes, and neither do my kids! A day later I've forgotten it changed at all, except that it's darker at night and later in the morning. Neener neener.
I caught some of that documentary and loved it too. A TV show about TV. Awesome!
