We should just move into the doctor's office

Last night, about 5 minutes after I posted the last blog, Aidan woke up crying and having a really hard time breathing. We recognized the symptoms of croup right away (seeing as how he has had croup 5 other times before this). We took him in and turned on the hot water in the shower, which didn't help at all. He couldn't breathe. So Christian took him outside in the cool(er) air, while I called the First Nurse here in Ames. He got a little better outside, so Christian spent an hour outside with him. Then Christian and I took turns sleeping on the couch with him during the night. Ahhhh, 3 hours of sleep each. I love sleep-deprived-induced headaches. Today I took him to the doctor and he got yet another prescription of steroids. The doctor said she believes Aidan is just unlucky, because he doesn't have asthma or allergies, and he just happens to get croup nearly every time he gets sick. By the way, for anyone who's counting, we have lived in Ames for 2 1/2 months and have been to the doctor and/or instacare 4 times. Poor boys!

I hope Aidan feels better soon. Going to the doctor a lot is totally not fun. Good luck with everything

Ryan got croup when he was almost 18 months. I ended up rushing him to the ER (yes, I was 7 months pregnant). They sent him right back and he ended up getting admitted to the hospital for three days. We even had to be transfered to a different hospital (one with a pediatric unit) in an ambulance while he was strapped down hooked up to a breathing machine. I never want to do that again! Good hob for spotting it and being sleeping next to him on the couch. It's better than spending 3 night in the hospital!

Sorry to hear about that. It is never any fun when you have to be at the doctors so much. I hope he feels better soon.

Maybe it's just a sign you should move back to Utah?? Although I guess your luck wasn't much better here either. On a side note, I'm glad Chicken is gone too. We really need to talk!

I am sorry he is feeling yucky!! I think that must be the worst thing - to have a sick kid and soo little you can do about it. We love you!
