On the Tenth Day of Christmas

we went on an imaginary trip: our house was a pirate ship. Ethan and Aidan's Grandma Jenny sent some books for the boys to open throughout the month of December, and today they opened their very favorite one so far. It's called How I Became a Pirate, written by Melinda Long. Ethan was fascinated by it..."You mean, pirates don't have manners? And they have green teeth?" Luckily, he borrowed the pirate costume from his friend Elli when we went to her house yesterday. So he put the clothes on, and then added a few touches of his own, including Christian's belt around his shoulder, a golf club for a sword, and a "mean" pirate look of his own.

The back of the book has a jolly roger on it, so he would have me hold it up at the perimeter of his bedroom (his bed was the ship), and when he would spot the jolly roger he knew other pirates were trying to steal his treasure. So he would come over and WHACK them with his sword/golf club. What an imaginative kid! Thanks, Grandma Jenny, for hours of fun!

Seems like a slow day for blog commenting. I am just wrapping presents and wanted to thank you again for the awesome wrapping paper you left here when you moved. I am putting it to good use.

You are such an awesome mom! I don't think you have a single day that is boring! You always do such creative things with your kids. I hope when Kaite is older I can be as cool!

I've heard great things about that book! You'll have to tell me what your official reviewers think of it. But it already looks like it's going to have rave reviews.

We have that book too! My boys love it. Carson always says "Shiver me Timbers" or whatever phrases are in there. Cute pictures!
