If you're not in the mood for bragging today, stop reading now!

Okay, for the other 5 people who are still reading, you will be amazed and impressed and, frankly, blown away by my four year old. Ethan can tell time on an analog clock. Some of you out there don't even know what an analog clock is, and he's doing it. Christian has been teaching him how a clock works over the last week and a half, and he can figure out what time it is. He can count by 5's to 60 (to 100, actually) and he understands AM and PM too. What a kid. He gets it right about 80% of the time. The hardest part is when it is, for example, 5:50 and he thinks it is 6:50 because the small hand is closer to the 6 than the 5. By the way, this clock is from a toy tool bench that Ethan took apart so that he could practice telling time on the clock section.

We also have some puzzle pieces that match a dollar amount, say 47 cents, and the coins that add up to 47 cents. He can add the money together and figure it out. He can add a quarter, two dimes and 2 pennies and come up with 47. It's amazing to watch him. He is a tiny bit obsessed, or more like extremely interested, in money, and so he has just had this strong desire to figure out how much each coin is worth, and now, to add them up to figure out how much money he has in his piggy bank. And he's only four!
I'm telling you, my kids are geniuses! I am one lucky mom.

You are definitely a lucky mom! Check out those smart kids! I'm sure you had a huge part in their brains too! :)
okay, so i'm totally impressed! teach me your tricks!!
Really, that is amazing! I thought Carson was smart knowing all his letters, but he struggles with plenty others, not that I'm worried, but really, how are you teaching them these things???
I see no problem bragging. I thought that was what these blogs were for!
That is awesome. How old is he?

Erin, I think that is great. It is amazing what the kids learn and how short of time it takes them to do it too. I think the parents feel better about the accomplishments of their kids more sometimes then the kids feel about their own accomplishments. Congrats!!! Wanna teach Emma?
That is pretty unique to be able to do at four! Wow! I love watching our kids learn and grow...and especially at this age where they WANT to learn about everything. It's so cool!
That is awesome. Really, I want to know how you do it. I hope my children learn as quickly as your boys. Oh yeah also, where did you get the motorized train for Aiden? Zander is quickly becoming a fan of everything that moves.
Whoa. That's awesome. Looks like Ethan's pretty much on track to be like the 10-year-old boy I saw on the news last night who's going to start college in the fall. Good luck helping him with his homework later! :)
Wow! I bet he skips grades in school.
Erin, that's great. The 6 year old I babysat really struggled with money (and counting in general sometimes). And he was just barely learning to read time. And this in the first grade! Ethan is going to be the next Doogie Howser!
I am impressed! Soooo smart! I can't believe he is already 5!!!!
