Since we are moving in July, our landlord has to rent our place out. So, we have had two different couples come to our home in the last week to look at it. We have had at least 24 hour notice, so it's not a horribly big deal, but with two children it is difficult to keep a clean house (it's much harder now than it was last year when people came to look at our apartment. Is it the age?). Well, our landlord is also looking at possibly selling instead of renting the place. So I just found out yesterday evening that the real estate lady is holding an open house at our place tomorrow from 9:30 to 11:00. So not only do I have to clean my house, but I have to leave my house for an hour and a half so that people I do not know can come in, check out my closets, see how we live, and make me feel very uncomfortable all for the sake of "seeing if they might want to live here." Aargh! I am very territorial, and I do not want people rifling through my stuff! I don't want unknown people going through my house without me being here! It's almost like asking someone to steal something. They may think, "They're not home. They won't miss it for days. By then, they might think one of their children threw it in the garbage and there is nothing they can do about it." (You know, because this is something that has happened twice. Well, at least we think they threw things away, because we never saw them again.) This sucks!!!
End rant.

Awww man, that does stink. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope nobody "swipes" anything!
We have been looking at houses and I always hate looking around a house when someone is still living there. It feels so weird. Hopefully someone will scoop it up sooner than later and you can live the next couple months in peace!
That really stinks Erin. I would hate that also. I hope nothing is missing when you return!!
I can understand both sides. I wouldn't want anyone coming to my place though. You could just stay home! We've gone to several places where the renters or owners were there while we were looking. (Although then I didn't feel comfortable looking at the house).
I can't believe they make you leave! I mean it makes sense, but still...they really could snatch something. I think I would tell the real estate agent that I set up hidden cameras all over the house, so don't try anything.
I don't blame you makes you want to pack all your stuff up and leave the house with it in your trunk! Best wishes with that!! I am territorial as well. I guess we have to be in this day and age fearing people will steel something..
Man, that is annoying! Too bad we live three hours away, I would let you come hang out at our place!
I can't believe how little notice you have! When we sold our townhome we had weeks to get ready for our open house...and we rented a storage unit and all to "de-clutter" our closets so they looked bigger! lol
I hope it all went well! I've been gone and am just getting caught up on my friends blogs!
I totally know, we are selling our house right now, the leaving part at 30 min notice is the worst! Luckily, know. we aren't living there for 2 months so it can remain spotless....unless someone moves something or adjusts my curtains to look outside and doesn't move them back......or......HA, I am a superfreak!
