I have a nice version of Photoshop on my computer. I have never even double clicked the icon. It has opened unintentionally, when I was trying to look at pictures on my computer; I said, "Oops," and closed it again. Well, I have been talking to people about how they make those cute digital scrapbook pages and the cute masthead like at The Daily Bite, feeling very jealous because these people obviously have talents that I don't have. These people (Tyra, Desta, Jessi, Megan, others with cool stuff on their blogs) are telling me that they tinker around in Photoshop. SCREECH!! CRASH!! (That's a mental car crash.) That's where I stop listening. I don't know how to use Photoshop. And I'm not a tinkerer. I want to read how something works (but not a 400 page book like the one shown above), and then make it work. Don't make me fiddle with stuff! I just want to know how to do it!
So really, do I really have to tinker, or are there tutorials out there that don't take hours to watch or read or listen to? I mean really, how do I do something as cute as The Daily Bite, or a cute signature "thingy" (do you like my lack of understanding in all things computer?) that Tyra has on her photography blog? And she adds them to all of her pictures, so they can't be (or at least are harder) to copy and be plagiarized. Do you keep your original photos as you took them, or do you delete them once you make them cooler/cuter/better in Photoshop? I need you geniuses out there to help me!

I wish I had photoshop. Isn't it fairly expensive?
I have no idea how to use photoshop which is why I am married to someone who knows EVERYTHING about it. I will ask him if he knows any good tutorials. But it is a pretty complex program so it probably will take a little longer than a couple hours.
oohh-- I am teaching a class next wednesday for our relief society...wanna come? I tinker too but I got a lot of starting out tips from digitalscrapbookmemories.com. She has very basic tips like setting up your workspace etc. You can also just google for tutorials or any questions and often find an answer. I would be happy to answer any questions you have...just email me! There are some basic things to know and from there you can do anything. Good luck!
I HATED photoshop when I was trying to figure out how to use it.. in fact, I still don't use it for my pictures. I use a different program because I still don't understand it that much. And really.. I read a few things.. but mostly just started playing around with it. It takes FOREVER that way but I am very hands on so that's how I figured it out. If I find anything useful though I will let you know. :)
I've really wanted to learn how to do that too! It's a little intimidating to me. I know a little about photoshop, but there's so much that I don't know!
ERIN,You said you thought I was smart thank you, Now I have to admit I'm not at all, I can not do photoshop (sigh) But I can tell you the easy easy stuff I use...
scrapblog.com.. So easy you make them and export them as a jpeg and waaaa-laaaa blog pictures... If you need help with it let me know..
Secrets out, I have no talent.. hehe
I am just the oppossite, I have to be the one tinkering around and/or having someone show me, reading books and stuff goes in and out :) I was lucky enough to take a web design class this past winter and thats where I got introduced to the basics of photoshop. From there I just played around. Adrienne is expert!
Oh yeah and my pictures.....I keep the originals and the edited ones, that way I can go back and do other cool things with the original later.
Here's a really good website for beginner digi scrapbookers.. some great tutorials

You could try Photoscape. It's a free download that's like photoshop - only easier. It's more self-explanatory, but you'll still have to play around with it a bit to "get it". That's just how it goes. I mostly use the edit stuff that comes with my digital camera, but I photoshop on occasion, mostly to remove red-eye. hat's my main need for photoshop.
I, as you can see, do not do crazy-clever things with my blog, but it's OK. I like your blog! It's great.
