Happy 11 Years!

This excerpt is taken from the story I wrote about us right after we got married.

...The next day was the big day, Tuesday, September 16, 1997. Our wedding wasn't scheduled until 11:00 so we were kind of lazy in the morning. I think we went to McDonald's for breakfast, but I could be wrong. [It was my wedding day. A herd of elephants could have tromped by and I might not have noticed it.] I took a shower and dried my hair, and then Susan styled it for me. It looked gorgeous! It was loosely put up, with curls on the top of my head and ringlets framing my face. Then she stole the little white flowers from the condo's plastic flower centerpiece and placed them strategically in my hair. It was funny to see her do it, but they added the perfect touch to my hair. (Especially because I decided I didn't want a veil.)

We got to the [Laie Hawaii LDS] temple right at 10:30. I changed into my dress and then my mom and I sat in the bride's room and talked for a few minutes...The ceremony was incredible...The [temple] president took his time in saying the words because we were the only wedding that day.

After the ceremony we walked outside where Al, Jennifer and Abe were waiting for us. We hugged them and they began taking pictures. They had brought us wedding leis to wear for our wedding day. Right then, it started raining. It rained for about five minutes, and then it stopped just like that. In Hawaii, it is considered good luck for it to rain on your wedding day.

I'm so glad I wrote these memories down while they were still fresh in my mind. Our wedding day was a very special day, and our marriage has only gotten better with time. Happy Anniversary honey. I love you!
