It's My Birthday and I'll Laugh/Cry If I Want To

Today is my 32nd birthday. My kids are helping me make Bakerella's cake balls for my "cake" (thanks to Lara for introducing me to these sinfully delicious treats). My husband is barbequeing hamburgers for dinner - the really yummy kind with bacon and caramelized onions on top. My kids have been smothering me with kisses and queries of "Are you excited that it is almost your birthday?" for the last few days. It's fun to have kids around to stir up some excitement at birthday time.

Question:

Do I feel happy and content because my sons keep telling me, "You're beautiful Mama. I love you Mama."

OR

Do I completely freak out because I found my first gray hair on Sunday while getting ready for church?

Apparently, the age of 32 is the age when I start "getting old." Happy birthday to me!

I hope you don't mind me dropping by your blog. I saw you on Jillene's blog and thought I would say hello and I feel you on the birthday thing. I am about the same age and I am freaking out more and more with each birthday. I don't like this old thing... only parents and grandparents are old! Happy birthday!

I am 32 too, and so I could totally relate to the beginning of the post, thinking, I am not so old if I am the same age as her, and she is so young, but then you mentioned the gray hair and now I am sad that I really am getting old. How about if we just ignore that kind of stuff and pretend like we are still 23?

I found my first gray hair when I was 25. Besides, you're blond so you want have to start dying your hair at 34 like I did. Have a great day and no freaking out necessary. :)

I'm *shocked* that you just found your first gray hair. My first one arrived in my early 20s. I aspire to a head full of beautiful silver-gray hair.

Thanks for posting today's links - just what I needed!

And this story should make you feel better.

I was at a division training last week, and overheard a woman say that she was a grandma. I looked at her with crazy eyes, because she looked very young. She is 32!!!!!!!! She had her son when she was 16, and he just had a baby. It makes me cry.

On the gray hair use my favorite phrase...."I'm not going gray. I'm turning Platinum!"

Happy Birthday! I found my first gray around my 30th birthday, but I've only found one more since then. If it's at a rate of one every two years, I can handle that. :)

Your kids are sweet for telling you that your beautiful :) I hope they keep those amazing maners!

And a grey hair? Don't worry, there is a girl taht sits infront of me in one of our classes, she just barely turned 21 and I see grey hairs in her super long hair...

Happy birthday Erin! And oh my goodness, I've been pulling WHITE hairs out of my head for years, and I'm 26, so count yourself lucky. :)

And I am drooling over the red velvet cake balls link. To my own demise, I also looked up the oreo truffles recipe on that site. I'm doomed for sure. Oreos are my kryptonite.

HAPPY--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I had my first gray hair at 18!! Gray hair does not define that you are old, think of it as a sign of maturity and wisdom!
