On the Ninth Day of Christmas I Posted on My Blog

NINE MILLION CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

All right, I'm exaggerating. But only a little. Last week our family went out on a drive to look at fun Christmas lights and decorations in our town. Since we are new to the area, we decided to start close to home and drive around in the neighborhoods near our house. Coming from the back seat we heard cries of, "Look on MY side. It's a snow globe!" And, "Look over here. I see a runway for Santa's reindeer." We were all oohing and aahing, when all of a sudden, we saw it. We stopped in our tracks. I'm pretty sure I said, "WOAH." Christian and I were pretty much speechless, but the boys were so excited:
It was so bright, the sky all around the house looked like daytime. The house across the street was very modestly decorated...Christian said, "I feel sorry for that house." Poor little house across the street, never gets any attention paid to it because of the gawkers checking out the nine-million-light decorated house. Christian mentioned to a friend at church on Sunday that he saw a house with so many lights on it, and his friend said, "Oh yeah. THE house. If you have that reaction, I know which house you are talking about. Every time you go back, you see something new that you haven't seen before." So we went back again just last night, and sure enough, we saw many things we didn't notice the first time around. When we pulled up, there were five other cars that were stopped looking at the lights. It was creating a traffic jam. Only in Cedar...well, maybe not only in Cedar, but still, it was a sight to see. Oh, and I didn't get the other side of the driveway in this picture, which had approximately 100,000 more lights.

WOW. I want to come see. In Lehi, Rick and Amber know of a house that has their lights set to music on their own radio station. All the lights blink to the music. Crazy.

Where I live there is a man who decorates his house with thousands of lights each year. Would hate to have to pay his electric bill.

There's a house in Murray like the one Brooke is talking about. It's called "Christmas Utah" and they also have their own station.

The picture I showed on my blog post about the economy and celebrities was actually the house next to Christmas Utah. Guess if you are going to compete you better go big

There has been a house like this in every town we've lived in (well, except San Diego--it was the boats that were decked out) and it sure is a lot of fun. A couple of them have had to have the electric company install an extra utility pole and wires. It sure is fun, though! My Big Guy insists on going to the one we have lived close to for ten Christmases now. Since it is pretty much the same from year to year, I figure they would get tired of it but, no, they must go and see that house! Fun fun!

Okay, I'm not a total green freak, but that is such a waste of energy. I hope their electric bill is outrageous!

WHOA.

I can't even imagine what the numbers on their electric meter must be doing...spinning like crazy I suppose.

Thank you for reminding me...we forgot about driving up to see "the house" this year! (And you and I are totally on the same wavelength...my eleventh day is already written, but similar enough. LOL.)

Oh, I love it! Thanks for the picture. On the way home from church today I was telling Greg about how I'm really missing driving around looking at Christmas lights and he he said,"You can find some on the internet and look at them in the warmth of your own home!" I told him that it is SO different. The whole fun is the discovering of them, and the driving and the Christmas music playing etc. But seeing your picture, I'm surprised how nice it is! Maybe I'll take Greg's advice after all!

I think I know which house you are talking about. It is beautiful but must be expensive.

Las Vegas is calling. That is a bright set up for sure Erin. Glad I don't pay their electric bill. :)

That would take so much work to set up and then take down. Glad the rest of us get to just LOOK at houses like that. :)

We have one like that in Scottsdale and Glendale, AZ. Lots of fun and fun for the kids. That takes a lot of christmas spirit and work to put all of those decorations up:)

The house next door to ours is the exact same way. It's crazy.
I don't see how anyone could put up that many lights.

When I was in high school there was a house in my hometown that was all decked out like this! Thanks for sparking a memory from home. It was fun to see you guys last weekend! Let's not let that much time pass ever again! Hope to see you next week!

I love it! There is a house like that by my mom and dad's and we always drive by. (the same house that gives away full size candy bars at Halloween) I love festive people!

Well I feel stupid. Our pitiful little white strand is lookin' mighty Scrooge-y at the moment.

Hey I started mine finally today and I am still not caught up. But it has been fun for me and the kids to figure out what to do together. Hopefully I will get caught up tomorrow.

Wow. How fun. Wonder how long it takes them. I don't see my hubby rushing to do this anytime soon.
