Conversation at last night's dinner table: (actually, we don't eat at the dinner table; we eat at the bar. I refuse to eat dinner in a carpeted dining room with children.)
Aidan (3 years old): "Mom, you made the best dinner in the deep blue sea." (I made this, by the way, and it was divine.)
Me: "Aww, thanks Aidan."
Christian (husband): "So, how big do you boys think SpongeBob is in real life?"
Ethan (5 years old): "This big?" (holds his hands out about as wide as him and as tall as him)
Aidan: "This big!" (same size as Ethan just showed us)
Christian: "Wow, that's big. I think he's this big." (holds his hands out about the size of a kitchen sponge.) "Remember in the SpongeBob movie when SpongeBob rides on David Hasselhoff's back, and he's walking around on his legs, how small he is?"
Ethan: "Oh, yeah!"
Christian: "And remember, he lives in a pineapple. Pineapples are only this big, so he must be pretty small."
Ethan: "You're right, Dad."
Dad is always right.
I love that Christian has so much fun with the boys. What a great dad! (And husband too - hubba hubba.)

hubba hubba - hilarious :)
Dads rock.
What an adorable conversation. Waxing philosophical on SpongeBob. That's the best.
What great boys you have :-)
Totally agree with the carpet idea...I'd be worried with some of the adults I know
That is a great conversation! We love SpongeBob around here as well.
I never really thought about it, but he must be pretty small to live in a pineapple. Unless the pineapple is huge.
Ahhh, Spongebob. Funny conversation. I'm with you on the carpet.
So cute! Love the conversation between your hubby and sons. And that recipe does look divine- I may have to try it!
too freaking cute!
what a great daddy =)
Just found your blog this morning... and love it! As I was questioning whether or not I should comment, I saw your little comment quote... from my kids' favorite book Love You Forever. We were meant to be blog friends!
My kids have learned all they needed to know from Spongebob.
yeah... I love dinnertime conversations! So fun!
I agree with the carpet thing... no way.
UNless the pineapple is really big
So adorable!
And I thought about you this weekend when we stopped for gas in Cedar.
That is too funny! Although, I think I might prefer a kid-sized sponge-Bob...
SpongeBob is beloved around here. I think that I have every episode memorized.
Louie forbids the watching of Sponge Bob (also, we don't have that channel) - so I'm afraid I can't relate to that so much.
However, my boys also tell me at almost every meal, "Mom you make the BEST ____" (fill in the blank). Sometimes I even make the best water or chicken nuggets. Gotta love that.
Isn't it great getting compliments from your kids? Yesterday my son told me I looked like a beautiful princess in my dress. You better believe I strutted around for a while after that. :)
i love conversations with kids. seriously.
I giggled like crazy over your post because yesterday we watched the Spongebob movie for the 1000th time. My favorite part is the Hoff giving those goofy goobers a ride!
That is cute.
There isn't anything sexier than a man who treats his kids well and has fun with them. I can hardly control myself when I watch my husband coach little league!
My husband knew the song before my kids did. I am not one for the show, myself. I got one off of iTunes for my girls and it ended up being pretty crude. Fortunately we don't have cable anymore, but my girls would always ask me if I liked SpongeBob. I had to tell them the truth and say no. I do still love The Smurfs, however.
So cute. I love dinner time talk with little people. It makes big people talk so overrated.
I've tried convincing Conner before that my cleaning sponge was "BobBob SwarePants" but he declines to agree.
And there's no way in hades I'd eat on a carpet with wee-ones.
I am so glad to have some authoritative resource to refer to should a Sponge Bob size debate erupt during dinner one night (which it probably eventually will, since we've had similar debates on a variety of Disney characters...)
Blessings!
Ah cute! You know my 21 year old boy out in PA. on his misson loves sponge bob too. What a goof. I can call him that because he just called me one this morning in his email.
I am glad to hear that it isn't just my bunch that love Spongebob and think of him as real.
I want to have that conversation with my kids. Hold on lets see what they say.
The five year old said.
"I know how big he is, like this" Shows her hands the size of a small sponge.
Wow she is so smart.
My two year old held her arms out as far as they could go."dis big"
NOt so smart.... Yet!
I totally agree with you on the carpeted dining room. When we were house shopping, some got cut for that very reason.
I bet you love every minute with them. They sound so cute and kids say such great cute things.
So funny!!!
Your husband sounds like fun!
A hubba-hubby, who is a good dad AND does not care about the Super Bowl? Honestly. Sounds too good to be true! Very cute. And hey! Cedar? I was there all week (or close to it - Enoch). It's where my best girlfriend lives :)
Those are the conversations that keep us sane huh. Love it. Spongebob is watched as much around here now that the boys are grown. My daughter does watch it occasionally, but the briefs gross her out.
Aww Tartar sauce;) My daughter quotes it constantly as do the older boys. They got hooked on it after they found out Uncle Mike liked it. Patrick cracks me up:)
It's so much better than the grunts we used to get from our dad at the table....generally during meals we weren't sure if he even spoke English.
Definitely a cute conversation!!! Those french dip sandwiches look yummy!!
When I first started working at the court I was humming that song (because Que's younger sister always sang it). The people at the court decided it was my favorite show and I never heard the end of it. I still cry about it sometimes.
Hi.. I blog hop in here from Sara's blog :)
Like Spongebob!
Isn't it pathetic that such a random show can hold kids attention so well? Both the girls love it! At least it does have a lot of adult humor also.
Is it bad that I know the entire theme song by heart??? And...I have been known to DVR episodes...and I don't have kids? I just love the stupid humor. Way to go dad for keeping things in perspective!
Your kids are so cute! And what a fun hubby you have!
I love your family! Sound a lot like our's. We are bit spongebob obsessed.
I just read your comment on my mom's blog "Kathy with a K" Sorry that you have lived in Cedar for six months (Hee Hee!) It could be worse..I live in Enoch!
Kidding of course, but if you find yourself in need of a pedi, we go to the place by downeast outfitters!

What a funny moment to remember. Kids are just too cute!
Haha, that's great!
I remember the spongebob movie.
Heck I think I watched it a few days ago.
Little guys who LOVE their daddy. Meaningful conversation is always fun when it involves Sponge Bob and the likes.
That is so cute! I love how daddy is always right! Tonight our dinner conversation was about groundhogs...yours was much more interesting! :)
How fun! And that recipe looks divine! I am going to have to try that one!
Carpeted dining rooms are of the devil. I'm pretty certain.
Life would not be as good without our good husbands! =)
So adorable! I love that your hubby has an imagination and plays with your boys! Cute.
