Music, Music, and More Music

Last time I did this, I got tons of great new music, so I am doing it again.

I think I have mentioned once or twice that I love music. I get fixated on a song (or 10), and I listen to them over and over and over...

This is my "right now" playlist on my iPod:

Losing My Mind - Maroon 5
Dreaming With a Broken Heart - John Mayer
Violet Hill - Coldplay
I'm Yours - Jason Mraz
Circus - Britney Spears
In Love With a Girl - Gavin DeGraw
Lucky - Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat
My Life Would Suck Without You - Kelly Clarkson
You Are the Best Thing - Ray LaMontagne

I know it's kind of heavy on the Top 40 hits; that's generally the music that I like. But I'm certainly not rigidly stuck in that genre. I want some fresh music ideas to put into heavy rotation on my iPod. So,

What is your favorite song right this very minute?
OR
What is your favorite song of all time (if you had to choose)?

My fave right this minute is "Run To You" by Lady Antebellum. Lurve it.

One of my all-time favorites is "Lately" as performed by Jodeci. Oh, baby, is it ever good.

Also "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. I still melt inside when I hear it even though it is an oldie now.

I'm never held down to just one song-- much like food it all depends on the mood I'm in and what I want to hear.

If you are curious, you can go to CD Universe and search on my e-mail address to get a smattering of what I like to listen to.

My tastes run right along with yours and MommyJ's! I was going suggest some of Kris Allen's.

An artist I discovered through Motherboard is India.Arie. Particularly "Video" and "Complicated Melody.
I also love Missy Higgins and Chantel Kreviazuk. And Jennifer Hudson's "Giving Myself." (All of these are on my playlist if you don't want to search for them.)

Could I list a cheesey song?
I love "two for the price of one" by Abba. Not my favorite of all time, but makes me happy and reminds me of "good ol days"

I have this CD that a friend made me that I am playing constantly. She is the hippest gal for music. She does more non popular but very swanky accoustic style. Sort of folksy sounding. So the CD would be my fav right now. I don't have a favorite of all time. But it would be from the early 70's I know that. I use to listen to the count down relentlessly back then.

My most favorite song RIGHT THIS MOMENT is My Shadow by Keane. :)

My most favorite song of all time...

That would have to be Copacabana by Barry Manilow.

Right now it's "The Man Who Can't be Moved" I just love it.

My all time favorite is actually a piece of music not a song. It's the theme from Somewhere in Time.

Have you ever heard of Death Cab for Cutie?
Don't get scared off by the name. Little creepy....but absolutely fabulous. Their songs have been running through my head for the last couple days.

My fave song right now is "Precious" by Depeche Mode. I could listen to it all day long. Makes me feel ... special. Weird, huh?

Lately, I have been listening to classical music. It helps to calm my brain down. I make everyone listen to it when we are driving in the car. My son recently said to me, "since when did classical music become such a big hit. It sucks!" I don't care if they don't like it. Plus, they don't realize that it's keeping them calm too.

I don't think I could even begin to choose a favorite song. It's too hard.

My husband and I have a song. "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. He's one of my crushes by the way. Always has been, always will.

Currently, I listen to daily and almost exclusively, the soundtracks of "Pride & Prejudice" (Kiera Knightley version) and "Sense & Sensibility" (Emma Thompson version). I find them very soothing.

I'm a big fan of Ludo: particulary "Streetlights" and "Love Me Dead."
The Format is a sadly unknown band---they have great stuff! "On Your Porch" and "I'm Actual" are two great ones.
Other great songs:
-Academia by Sia
-When I Get You Alone by Robin Thicke
-Someday Soon by Wilco
-Someday by John Legend
-Might Tell You Tonight by Scissor Sisters
-Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
-Fear by Lily Allen (but get the radio edit).
And fitting in the soundtrack-type category of what Christa said, you should check out William Joseph. GREAT stuff!

I could go on, but I should probly stop.

My current favorite is Glitter in the Air from Pink's Funhouse album. Really, I love the ENTIRE album and listen to it all the time!

We are big The Killers and Greenday fans at our house so anything by them.

I'm still in a Taylor Swift mode at the moment.

Although lately I've been drifting back to my old Jewel CDs and if I could find my Patsy Cline I'd probably switch Taylor out for her for a day. :)

I love, and have loved for ages now, Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie. Also anything by Room Eleven, Wishful Thinking by The Ditty Bops, Details by Wouter Hamel, One of These Days by Kraak and Smaak. My tastes are ranging towards Dutch Jazz lately, which is cool and weird at the same time.

Probably my all time favourite when I'm in the mood for something a little slower, is The World Spins Madly on by The Weepies.

I have a music player on my blog with all these on it. Have fun trying new music!

The two things I'm listening to over and over right now are Ingrid Michaelson (love her--so cheerful and fun lyrics with songs I love to sing along with), and... very different... Ennio Morricone (the Mission, in particular).

How can you pick a favorite song?!? I guess mine would be one of the following (sorry, too indecisive to actually pick ONE):
-Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini (Rachmaninoff)
-Hymne a l'Amour (Piaf or Groban--it's just a gorgeous song)
-O My Father (LDS Hymnbook)
-Hole in the World by the Eagles
-La Mer by Charles Trenet (Otherwise known as "Somewhere Beyond the Sea")
-Love Me Tender (Norah Jones' interpretation)
-The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Random, but there you have it.

"Home" by Michael Buble is so good. Actually, anything by him is so good. I love his soulful bluesy voice.

Anything from the Wicked CD is amazing too.

Right now I'm obsessed with Golden Shoulders. They're from James' hometown and we just got to see them play in Provo on Monday. They have a new album, which I'm liking, but my favorite songs are Do You Know Who You Are? from the album Let My Burden Be (which is absolutely fabulous all around). And I Will Light You On Fire from Friendship Is Deep.

And Wilco has a new album coming out this summer but it already leaked somewhere. If you're interested I can get the details from James.

Have you watched Survivor yet? Are you excited for Sunday? I told James that if I left right after church I could be at your place right as it started......

My favorite song right now is Ordinary Day by Emilie Mover, OR Breathe by Tayler Swift. I'm excited to listen to some of these mentioned!

I am like you, I have certain ones it seems I listen to until I "wear" them out so to speak. Those are some pretty good ones you've picked, here lately I've found myself listening over and over to the follow ten.

1. Rainin You - Brad Paisley
2. Hard Act To Follow - Conway Twitty
3. Feel That Fire - Dierks Bently
4. Don't - Billy Currington
5. Secret - Maroon 5
6. Lips of An Angel - Hinder
7. Hook - Blues Traveler
8. Square One - Tom Petty
9. Far Away - Nickelback
10.Go To Boston - Augustus

I know, I know, that is a weird selection, and it will probably change tomorrow. I LOVE music, all kinds.

"Major Tom" by Shiny Toy Guns (not ground control to Major Tom, it's a different one. Again, you'll recognize it from a commercial)

"Poker Face" by Lady Gaga

"Mad" by Ne-Yo

And "1-2-3-4" by Plain White T's

I also love "So What" by P!nk, but I have had that one for a while.
