This Blog Post Probably Sucks

You all know I post nearly every day. Sometimes my blog posts suck. I admit it. I can't be on fire all of the time. Very rarely, I feel like I knocked it out of the ballpark with awesomeness. And it seems like you never know which ones people will connect to (and love) and which ones will make them think, "Meh."

Sometimes I spend hours (well, never actually hours, but you know what I mean) on a blog post and afterward I might consider it so-so, and others I whip up in five minutes and then realize I might have a hit on my hands.

On Tuesday, when Emmy prompted us to write our most embarrassing moments from childhood, I thought, "Oh yeah. I'll write about that time I peed my pants in ninth grade." It was 9:50 though, and I had to be at playgroup at 10:00. So I frantically wrote the little story up (without editing or spell-checking - I'm lazy like that) and quickly clicked publish before I headed out the door.

It turns out that BlogHer picked it up for their...I don't know what they call it. If you go to the BlogHer ad just to the right of this post, and scroll to the bottom, you will see four links underneath it. The third one down is my Can You Die from Mortification post. Now, I'm not saying that posts oozes awesomeness. In fact, they probably just liked the fact that I admitted that I peed my pants in ninth grade. But it's kind of fun to see my blog post there anyway.

Now, I'm posting this without editing or spell checking. And it very well might suck. And I am probably bragging, and I hate the fact that I am bragging because I don't want to be stuck up. But I teach piano in 20 minutes, and my hair is still sopping wet, and I have a Primary activity immediately after that and swimming lessons immediately after that, and I shouldn't be on the computer right now as it is.

Goodbye.

Erin, that's so cool. I think you should just bask in the awesomeness of getting recognized for your blog!

You never come across as arrogant to me, so feel free to lay fears of being stuck up to rest.

Well, I don't think your posts ever *suck*, but I do know what you mean At least you don't edit, re-edit, and re-edit again after posting like someone I know ...

That's really cool about the BlogHer thing. Awesome.

Congratulations! That is so awesome. I think every. single. one. of you posts oozes awesomeness.

Hey Congrats! You deserve it. Your blog is great. Glad I could help bump you into the BlogHer world :)

You go, Erin. You go. haha

Congrats on the BlogHer kudos! I'm guessing if you would have over thought the post, it wouldn't have been as brilliant, and maybe it wouldn't have picked. So there! :)

Awesome. You totally deserve to brag. And I don't think you're stuck up for it.

I do the same thing -- spend forever on a post that's just okay (most often), and every now and then, I spit something out that's incredibly awesome (less often). Well, incredibly awesome might be taking it a bit too far, but you know what I mean.

That's so cool that you had something picked up by blogher.

So, I deleted my last comment because I thought it didn't come off right. You'll get it in your email and I hope that you don't take it wrong! I love your blog...everything I said yesterday in the email was true! And by the way THANK YOU! I'll get back to you sometime later. I'm late for an activity myself. :)

To me there is no such thing as a bad post. Each one has some honesty to it, which is what it's all about.

And let's just admit a blog addiction when we have it!

Like I said, you are so popular or famous or whatever. And I also have an embarrassing peed my pants when I was way too old story. I'm still trauamatized though, so I probably won't be sharing it any time soon.

Congrats!! Who knew that peeing your pants would pay off years later when you blogged about it?!

Goob said...

its not bragging...I mean...you DID admit you peed your pants in the 9th grade...what's not to love about that?

I don't think you are bragging :) I think it's great you have a story that people think is funny (or that they can relate to). Good for you! Sorry about your Civic. We had to buy another car as well, but I couldn't give up our first car together. There are so many memories in those machines! :)

I can so relate to this--sometimes I spend hours and it's just so-so and sometimes I "might have a hit on my hands". Don't know if I have ever actually reached the status of genuine hit, however. It's a tough audience out there, hee hee.

Ha ha ha, funny. I love that last paragraph.

And congrats.

I love blogging when I need to be doing something else.

Congrats on your awesome pee your pants award.

I thought about doing an embarrassing blog, but they were all too embarrassing to share.

How fun that you were picked!!

I love the instant classics! I wrote one off the cuff last year about how to make a shopping list out of your jury summons, and it got picked up by Mormon Times for This Day in the Bloggernacle. Crazy! I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed your pee pants story. Omigosh. My friend, Lauri, in seventh grade laughed and peed her pants in English class. So awful and so funny!!

You are such a hoot. I love the way you psychoanalyze yourself the same way I do. Makes me feel like less of a freak. =P

YAY!! It was a good post. Very entertaining. And even inspired me to share a 9th grade moment, which was not near as humiliating as yours. ;)

I love your blog (though I can't always keep up since I am a terrible blogger), because you are so honest and hilarious! And don't worry - I didn't think you were bragging. Luckily I think I have blocked out most of the truly embarassing moments in my life - except a farting one at a party in high school. Enough said on that one.

Erin!

Go figure you and I...

I am so excited you were featured! I meant to comment this morning before my boys decided to have ONE OF THOSE DAYS...

Yes, I survived.
No, I'm not sending them to boot camp.
Yes, I looked into it.

AND THEN....
Tonight....
I NOTICED I WAS FEATURED AS WELL!!

(my 'I Brought It' post about kicking young little 20-somethings on the treadmill at the gym...!)

Yay for us! Although, I have to say I giggled that your post about urinating on yourself was the one featured... BUT WHATEVER! ;-)
Love ya!

congrats! that's awesome!

And I totally know how you feel. Some of the posts I really like and think are so clever I get like 3 comments on. And then the posts I just kind of rattle off, I'll get a record number. I just don't get it. . .

Yahoo! That's fantastic! BTW, what is BlogHer? I see it around but have never clicked on it! You'll have to let me know what it's all about. And I DID love your pee in your pants post!
