The first one I wrote a review on (and man, you guys have some real opinions on whether or not people of the opposite sex can be friends if they are married to other people!). Then I tried to read a Young Adult novel, but I got bored quickly. Then I decided to read Like Water for Chocolate, which I read years ago and loved. But I wasn't in the mood for that one either (but if you haven't read it, I highly suggest it - it really is a great book). Then I had a realization: I have only read the Harry Potter books once, and I haven't seen movie #6 yet. So I read the first book (H.P. and the Sorcerer's Stone). This week I am going to read 2-6, and then I am going to go to the movie (if it's not already out on DVD, natch).
My goal for this week scares me - no, terrifies me. Last night on a whim I decided to do something healthfully responsible. I signed up for an exercise class at the university. It's actually a great class - it's circuit weight training, you choose your hours, and you get graded for how often you go (I think an A is like 3 times a week for 30 minutes, and it lasts the entire semester!). I can bring my iPod and/or book, and get a grade to exercise. But I'm scared! I haven't committed myself to exercising like this in years. Just this morning I did lunges on the Wii Fit and my legs are jelly right now. This goal isn't For Just One Week; it's FJ1SS - For Just One Stinkin' Semester. Wish me luck.

Good luck with your exercise goal! I haven't stepped foot in a gym in over a year.
Wow. I need to see if Joel's university gives me free tuition so I can copy you. :)
And you're going to need a lot of extra time to finish HP 2-6 this week! I did all 7 in a week last month, but I practically did nothing else.
So, when I was thinking about your one week goal and what I wanted mine to be, I totally was thinking in terms of exercising! I just bought a gym membership. Great minds... :)
Anyway, I'm not gonna say I'm going every day, but how about for just one week I go at least 3 times.
Good for you for doing a class of any kind and bonus points for exercise. I haven't done any type of PE class since 10th grade and plan to never do it again so bravo! I did just start doing exercise DVD's again since I am no longer doing physical labor for work. I am doing aerobic pilates and Tae bo. So I will keep you in mind as motivation. I feel like we are kindred spirits this month because I also ready H.P 6 and 7 and saw the movie. :)
Good for you Erin. on the reading and the signing up for exercise class. Good luck!! You will do great!!!
Wow! Good luck! You are a brave woman--but just think of the cut muscles you'll have by December.
I love the HP books and my 8 yr old just discovered that the movies left out a ton and finished book 1 last night. She is started book 2 with you today.
I'm actually jealous of your class. I think if I was doing something like that, I would be exercising a lot more.
That is a lofty goal! Reading HP 2-6...but I might recommend waiting to read #6 till after the movie. My cousin re-read all of them, went and saw the movie, and HATED the movie. And this girl absolutely loves HP.
I wish there was a class like that around here. Well--there probably is but I am just too lazy to find it. Good luck!!
Good luck! I need to make a goal like this. I wanted to get up this morning and do yoga, but my kids were still asleep so I opted for a really, really, really long hot shower instead.
Tomorrow is another day!
I also took the 2 books last week challenge and did it:). Yay for reading! Good for you for exercising! Seriously, about 2 months ago I started to run--still don't really love it, but it's a fast way to get into shape and I'm feeling so much happier knowing that I'm doing something about my health--good luck! Great goal:).
Luck!
You are going to be so glad you did it by the end of the semester...Good luck!
Good luck! I do my Wii fit all the time and it's fun... But i really should go to a gym!
Good for you! I think "having" to do it for a class is the only thing that would keep me consistent. I just read the first Harry Potter too! Except I read it for the first time ever.
Erin, I love your blog. You always make me laugh. Though I don't always comment, I never miss a post. Which is why I am giving you an award! I think you are so creative, and want everyone to know it. I also am very impressed with your JF1W goals. You are very inspiring! At any rate, come and get your award.

Good luck! I think you're going to become a fan, though.
I wish I could devour books as quickly as you can. How do you do it?
I think that is awesome!!! Have fun! I wish there were something like that around here.
good job.. I started a FJ1W this week I am giving up Soda!! WIsh me luck!!
Good luck on your stinkin semester goal. You can do it!
That sounds fabulous! Great Job!
Holy cow! You must read REALLY fast!! It takes me like a month to finish a book. Especially when it's the size of Harry Potter! Great job, though. And good luck with the exercise!! You'll be glad you did it.
I really enjoyed getting back to the gym when my kids went back to school- I don't go as often as I should, but between the cardio equipment and the yoga class I no longer have excuses to miss and I feel it is great money spent.
Good luck on the reading....my reading time has disappeared somewhere lately!
Way to go with setting the goals. I wish I was so motivated!
Good luck, you'll do great and feel wonderful!
You can do it! You can do it! You can do it! Then you can come up North and hike to the top of Mount Timpanogos with me :)
GOOD LUCK at the gym. I like your JF1W thing.
ALSO -just go see the Harry Potter movie. Go see it before you reread the 6th one. I made the mistake of reading it again before going to the movie and then I was so annoyed at all the little detail (and major detail) changes, so go before you know how it's really supposed to be. You'll enjoy it more.
I just started reading the HP series. Am actually on the last one. Not too bad - my kids told me I needed to quit needing to get all the details of the book from the movie:)
I guess you are a way faster reader than I am...but I really love sitting down & enjoying a good book.
Great goals, and good luck with the class...I would always bring my notes with me & review while I was on the treadmill :o)
Have I just not been paying attention…
I LOVE the FJ1W idea. I like how you sum up the week before and announce your next challenge. Puts New Year's resolutions to shame. Good luck with your new class.
This sounds great!
I hope you can do it, but I bet you can!
I can barely exercise. I do my sit ups and I'm done.
Awesome! Sounds like fun. I want to sign up for a class but my gym has them for free. They just scare me cause I dont want to be the newbie.
You go girl! funny when I didn't have a broken leg, I didn't want to work out, but now I am banged up, I would kill to work out, or even just put my foot on the ground again! You are sooo inspiring to me! thanks
You can do this thing. A little at a time adds up in a big way.
I downloaded some workout music for my IPOD that keeps me going hard. It's hard NOT to push yourself when Christina Aguilara's song 'Fighter' is screaming in your ears. If you haven't gotten some motivational tunes, do it!
I'll be right there with you. All my kids will be in school full time in the next 48 hours and I'll be back to the gym with a vengence, hitting it HARD! Woo Hoo!
What a great goal for you! And publicizing it here will make it a goal that is easier to keep. We're pulling for ya!
And I agree about Like Water For Chocolate. Love it. But I suggested it to a friend who is in a very conservative book club and they all pretty much hated it and wondered why I would ever read such filth. LOL
Holy crud, GO YOU!!!! That class will kick your booty!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
And that is the way to commit. Good for you!
