For Just One Week

I'm happy to say that I accomplished my goal this week. I was able to relax and have a wonderful time with my mom and sister in San Diego. We visited some really cool places and we ate out for every meal (my personal idea of heaven). I will post more details later this week.

And now onto my goal for this week:

From the ages of 12-21, I read my scriptures every single day. Like, for nine years, I only missed one day, and that was because I had a migraine so bad I couldn't even turn on the light in my bedroom, let alone read. Daily scripture study really helped me through those tough teenage years. Then I got married, and scripture reading became much more sporadic. So...

For Just One Week, I am going to read scriptures every day, for a minimum of 10-15 minutes.

Is there any goal you want to set For Just One Week?

I'm joining you on this one. I found I couldn't keep sweets out of my diet during pregnancy, but I can definitely do better on scripture study. I'll say at least 15 minutes every night, but I'll try to do it during the day if possible, and for longer.

I used to be so much better about regular and meaningful scripture study, too. I know not being better about this is a major contributor to my impatience and anger with my kids. This one is definitely a very worthy one. Thanks. And I'm so glad you had a great vacation!

I'm pretty good at my scriptures. . . it's the journal writing that needs some help!

What an awesome goal Erin. 9 years? Wow. That is a record for anyone I know.

That's an excellent goal!

For just one week, I want to exercise every day- even if it's for a short duration.

I got Swine Flu (we think) back at the first part of July and was sick for a week then dealing with 'residual' sickness for 2 more after that. It totally RUINED my exercise habit that I had worked so hard to build. Gotta get the habit back and the only way to do it is to start doing it again. Sigh.

You read my mind! I have been so bad about reading my scriptures for the last few years, I am ashamed to say. I am getting back in the habit with you this week. :)

I've gone through periods like that too. I went for years reading every day, and now, it's the opposite.

I will do this too!

I need to join you on this one. I don't know if I can do it this week, though!

I was good at the scripture study until I had Bria. Since then, it's been VERY hit and miss. We always do it together as a couple, but it's just so different.

I'll call you later today and we can plan the greenshow. :)

Good for you!! That is amazing.

My goal is to write down something, whether in my journal or somewhere something good/funny that happened that day. And to do this every day for a week.

What a great way to start that habit. I too will be joining you on this one. Thanks again.

That is a great goal! I was just thinking the other day that I don't read my Bible quite as often as I would like. I think I might follow you in you in your goal! :)

I'd really like to read the bible everyday.
I've never read it at all.

Ummm.... I'd like to wake up without being exhausted every morning.... So that means I'll go to bed early! That's mine.

What is it about being married and having kids that has killed my spiritual habits? I am in the same boat. I need to commit to a week, too!
Is 5 minutes okay?

How serendepic! Just yesterday I made a goal to say a meaningful prayer every morning and evening for this whole week. That means getting up early and embracing the heat of my "prayer chair" with my hubby instead of snuggling under the sheets in my cool room. I love the week-long goals that eventually turn into habits!

When we were newlyweds, we'd read our scriptures together. Now, with three kids, we've lost that. Need to do it again!

Great goal. I think I will work on morning being my time to sit in quiet meditation before all the rest of the family is up and about.

9 years is IMPRESSIVE. I'll join you. I've alreayd told myself that I won't check out any more books (for me) from the library till I finish D&C, and I'm on sec. 122. I just gotta DO IT.

If you'd like, feel free to stop by my scripture blog and share briefly what you read or learned. I obviously need more incentive to read daily. wondersdailybread.blogspot.com

And you've made me pull out my scriptures to read and summarize right now! Thanks!

My goal this next week is to a little laundry every day instead of scaling Mt. McLaundry in an attitude of deepest despair...

Good luck with yours - it makes such a difference!

Can I say that I am completely impressed?! You only missed one day in 9 years? WOW! You are like ready to be translated! Like you, I need to get back into gear and start reading the scriptures every day; just not sporadically. My goal for the week is to get up each and every day :)
